A little glimpse into my week as a doula:
On Wednesday, I hosted another morning of play cafe at Radiant Community Centre with bagels and donuts. It was a cozy morning with convos about daycare, naps, and leaps.
I also had consultations for doula services. I recently opened my books for birth and postpartum support for the first time since 2023 and it's been lovely to connect with families who are looking for extra support. My books are starting to fill up over the next few months... and into 2027!!
On Thursday evening, I taught a prenatal class on protecting the perineum. I extracted the content from a masterclass that I originally designed for birthworkers on the evidence behind episiotomy and perineal tearing prevention. It was a really good opportunity to turn fear into empowerment, and I think we got the job done.
I also prepared the content for our next prenatal class on September 3rd: Birth with an epidural. If you're curious about this class you can read more about it here: https://www.radiantcentre.ca/event-details/birth-with-an-epidural
No two weeks are alike in this doula life, but each week is filled with joy.
The flowers in this photo deserve their own little mention. They were gifted by a mom at Play Cafe. She has attended since it started and has been such a supportive force for Radiant, always offering to help, bringing moms to programming, and bringing
wonderful energy to be around.
I'm so grateful for her and all the parents who support what I'm building!!
