Social Media Terms of Engagement
Saskatoon Public Library (SPL) uses social media to share information about what’s happening at the library and to engage with our community. We reserve the right to edit social media content for purposes such as clarity or length. Though we love to hear from and interact with you, there’s some information that should not be shared on social media channels. To pro
tect everyone’s privacy, please do not include phone numbers, email addresses or any additional information that could be used to contact you or others. Further, in an effort to create a respectful and harassment-free forum for the public and our employees, we will remove any comments that contain:
• Profane, obscene, violent, or pornographic content and/or language.
• Promotion, fostering or perpetuation of discrimination on the basis of race, creed,
age, religion, gender, sexual orientation or national origin.
• Defamatory, hateful or personal attacks.
• Threats to any person or organization.
• Solicitation of commerce or advertising.
• Content in violation of any Canadian law.
• Encouragement of illegal activity.
• Content that violates intellectual property rights.
• Unintelligible or irrelevant messages.
• Comments that are inaccurate, misleading, off-topic, or involve the spread of misinformation or disinformation regarding library services, programs, and operations.
• Content in languages other than English.
• Content that is intentionally trolling, troll baiting, or flaming.
• Content that provides any non-public information about the Library or its employees.
• Third-party content that is posted without legitimate sources or links. We attempt to remove all objectionable content as soon as possible, it may not always be possible to remove it immediately. The Library bears no responsibility view, comments and content posted by others. Individuals or organizations associated with content as described above may be blocked or banned from the official Saskatoon Public Library social media accounts without warning, or their comments deleted or hidden from public view. These decisions are made in Saskatoon Public Library’s sole and unfettered discretion.
