107 Spitfire Royal Canadian Air Cadets

107 Spitfire Royal Canadian Air Cadets 107 Spitfire is an Air Cadet Squadron located in the City of Saskatoon. Founded in 1942, we welcome all youth aged 12 to 19.

Air Cadets is a youth organization funded by the Government of Canada. We offer youth the opportunity to realize their full potential. Cadets receive opportunities to learn about aviation, outdoor survival skills, sports, marksmanship, music and drill in a safe and fun environment. Air Cadets have the chance to travel the world, earn their Glider or Private Pilot Licence, and compete in biathlon a

nd marksmanship. In Saskatoon, cadet training follows the school year. For interested cadets, there are opportunities to attend Summer Training in other provinces. Notable former Air Cadets include Astronaut Chris Hadfield, former Governor General of Canada Raymon Hnatyshyn, and Country Music singer George Canyon. Cadets are not members of the military, and there is no expectation for cadets to join the Canadian Forces. Youth across Canada are joining Air Cadets everyday - why aren't you?

Interested in becoming a Cadet with 107 Spitfire?

-The online registration tool is now available as a part of the new “Join-Cadets” page on Canada.ca www.canada.ca/join-cadets.

-The tool is an engagement form where parents/guardians/prospective cadets can enter their name, postal code and corps/squadron of preference. The tool will then send an email to the corps/squadrons’ generic mailbox with the entered information. Corps and squadrons will then be required to contact the member to follow up and arrange for the completion of the required enrolment forms.

-This Online Registration Tool is meant to support the current registration process, it does not replace the required documentation or FORTRESS data entry requirements. It is called an Online Registration Tool as it will continue to evolve to streamline the current registration process.

A summer job opportunity to work for the Saskatchewan Air Cadet League.

04/16/2020

Hi everyone, I hope you're all keeping safe and busy.

As many of you have already seen in OCdt Gustafson's previous post, all cadet activities, including regular parades, additional training days, and summer training have been cancelled until 31 August 2020.

This means that all in-person cadet activities that we had planned as a squadron for the rest of this training year are not going to happen, and unfortunately those cadets who have already been selected for regular summer training and national courses will not be be going this summer.

This is very unhappy news, however, with the current state of things in the world, our Commander has made this difficult decision to ensure the safety of everyone.

As of now, all cadets currently enrolled in our program have passed their levels, and will start in the next level when we (hopefully) resume in the fall.

We as a staff will continue to provide you with fun, engaging and socially distant activities as we are able.

The information provided in OCdt Gustafson's previous post contains all of the information we have regarding the situation at this time. Please be patient with us. We will pass along any additional information as we receive it.

In much happier news, you might have noticed that our once CI Gustafson is now OCdt Gustafson! We will plan a ceremonial presentation when we return, but for now, Congratulations to our newest OCdt!

Stay safe!
Capt Bjorkman
