Tonight, SaskAbilities - Partners in Employment Saskatoon staff are gathering at Remai Modern and City of Saskatoon - Your Local Government to celebrate Light It Up! for NDEAM and shine a light on the importance of inclusive employment.

Our staff participation is more than showing up. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness, demonstrate our commitment to inclusion, and stand together for workplaces and communities where people experiencing disability have opportunities to contribute, and reach their potential.

It also brings SaskAbilities' Winning Aspiration to life: "We make a difference through each interaction."

Each conversation, connection and show of support helps build awareness and move inclusion forward.

Together, we’re lighting up Saskatoon and making a difference!

Light It Up! For Inclusive Employment!

On October 15, SaskAbilities Saskatoon is proud to partner with for Light It Up! for NDEAM. This nationwide initiative celebrates inclusive employment and the contributions of people experiencing disability in the workplace.

Our SaskAbilities locations will shine purple and blue, joining buildings and landmarks across Canada in a show of solidarity.

• Partners in Employment: 316 2nd Avenue North
SaskAbilities staff will also gather at two Saskatoon landmarks to celebrate:

• Remai Modern: 102 Spadina Crescent East

Those purple and blue lights are a reminder of why it matters: removing barriers, recognizing strengths, and creating opportunities for everyone.

It’s been a summer filled with fun and great partnerships!

SaskAbilities’ 365 Fun Program brings together Summer Fun and SLYP-Out, creating inclusive recreational experiences for children, youth and adults experiencing disabilities. Summer Fun runs throughout July and August, offering outdoor, group and community-based activities where participants can try new things, develop social skills, and build friendships. SLYP-Out keeps the fun going throughout the year with social, leisure, recreational and cultural activities that foster independence and connection.

We are grateful to Air Canada Foundation and TD Canada Trust through the TD Ready Commitment for investing in these programs and helping participants stay active, engaged and connected to their communities.

Through the support of Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation, participants also partook in meaningful First Nations cultural learning and experiences, fostering greater understanding, connection and appreciation of First Nations culture.

Together, these partnerships help make inclusive experiences more accessible and create opportunities for participants to learn, grow, and belong.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM), a time to celebrate inclusive employment and recognize the skills, perspectives, and talents people experiencing disability bring to workplaces and communities across Saskatchewan.
This year’s Canadian theme, “Skills Grow Economies. Disability Inclusion Fuels the Growth.” reminds us that inclusive employment is good for people, workplaces, communities, and our economy.

At SaskAbilities, Partners in Employment works with individuals and employers to create connections, recognize strengths, and build opportunities for meaningful employment.

Throughout October, we’ll be sharing stories, employer perspectives, and activities from across the province that highlight inclusive employment in action.

Because when people have opportunities to contribute their skills and talents, workplaces and communities grow stronger.
