Every call answered comes with a demand. Fire fighters carry the weight of extreme physical environments and traumatic situations. Paramedics face trauma, exhaustion, and the pressure of life-changing moments. Dispatchers absorb crisis through every voice on the other end of the line.

The job asks a lot of us, but too often we are taught to carry it in silence.

This Men’s Health Month, we remind all first responders that strength is not only measured by what you can endure. It is found in taking care of your body, protecting your mental health, reaching out when you need support, and looking out for your brothers and sisters beside you.

As an Association, we will continue to fight for safer workplaces, better resources, access to mental health supports, and a culture where asking for help is seen as a sign of courage.

Behind every uniform is a person. Taking care of our members means taking care of the people who dedicate their lives to taking care of everyone else.
