Riel Scouts. Riel Life Experience.

Registration is open for Métis kids and youth ages 5–16!

Riel Scouts is a hands-on, on-the-land program where youth can learn Métis culture, language, and ways of life, together with their community. This program is run by MN–S Locals. Scouts can earn badges for skills like Wilderness, Harvesting, Environment, Languages, History, and more.

Who can join: Registered MN–S Citizens (ages 5–16). If there’s space, you don’t need to be a member of a pilot Local.

Pilot dates: September 2026 to May 2027

Register now to be part of this amazing pilot phase! Please Visit https://mns.ca/services-and-programs/applications/riel-scouts

***UPDATE***
Why were certain Locals selected for the Riel Scouts pilot?

Pilot locations were selected based on a Locals interest in being part of the pilot program, as well as consideration of Regional representation.

The pilot phase was intentionally limited in size so the program could launch in a thoughtful and manageable way. A smaller pilot allows us to learn what works, identify what may need to be adjusted before the broader launch, and ensure participating communities receive the support needed for a successful first year.

Not being part of the pilot does not mean your area will be left out. More communities may have the opportunity to participate when the full launch of Riel Scouts occurs in September 2027. Riel Scouts locations will be based on Local interest, readiness, and available capacity.

🌿💛❤️ National Indigenous Peoples Day ❤️💛🌿

Today, Western Region 2A (WR2A) proudly celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to recognize and honour the rich cultures, traditions, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

As Métis citizens, we celebrate our history, resilience, and the generations of knowledge that continue to guide our communities forward. Today is an opportunity to reflect on our shared journey, uplift Indigenous voices, and celebrate the strength and beauty of Indigenous cultures.

We encourage everyone to take part in local events, learn about Indigenous histories, support Indigenous artists and businesses, and celebrate the vibrant cultures that make our communities stronger.

Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day from all of us at WR2A!

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we join people across the country in celebrating the rich cultures, histories, languages, and contributions of Métis, First Nations, and Inuit Peoples.

We are especially proud to honour the resilience, strength, and spirit of the Métis Nation. We recognize the generations of ancestors, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Youth who continue to carry our traditions forward and strengthen our communities.

We also extend our respect and gratitude to our First Nations and Inuit relatives as we collectively celebrate the diversity, strength, and enduring presence of Indigenous Peoples across Canada.

Today is a day to celebrate, learn, reflect, and honour the stories and contributions that continue to shape our shared future.

Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day.

💙 Happy Father’s Day from Western Region 2A 💙

Today, we honour and celebrate all the men who help raise, guide, support, and love our families and communities.

To our Métis fathers, step-fathers, Moshums, uncles, brothers, mentors, and father figures, thank you for the strength, wisdom, patience, and love you share with the next generation.

Through your teachings, stories, laughter, guidance, and unwavering support, you help keep our culture, values, and traditions strong.
Whether you are raising children, supporting grandchildren, helping to guide nieces and nephews, mentoring youth, or simply being a steady presence in the lives of those around you, your contributions matter and are deeply appreciated.

We also hold space today for those who are missing their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, sons, and father figures. Father’s Day can bring both joy and grief, and we honour the memories, teachings, and love that continue to live on in our hearts. We send our thoughts to all who are remembering loved ones today and acknowledge that grief and love often walk hand in hand.

From all of us at Western Region 2A, we wish you a day filled with love, laughter, family, and reflection.

Maarsii. Happy Father’s Day. 💙∞
