CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE & SOO TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS

Notice is hereby given that the Public Accuracy Test for the Early Voting portion of the November 3, 2026 General Election has been scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 8:00 am at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3½ Mile Road, Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783.

Early voting for both City of Sault Ste Marie residents and Soo Township residents will be held at the Soo Township Hall from Saturday, 24 October through Sunday, November 1, 2026. Hours are 8am-4pm each day.

The Public Accuracy Test of the Dominion Voting Imagecast System is conducted to demonstrate that the computer programs used to record and count the votes cast at the election meets the requirements of the law.

The Soo Township Cemetery Board (Pine Grove Cemetery) will meet on Tuesday, September 15th at 10am. The meeting will be held at the Soo Township Community center, 639 3 ½ Mile Rd. Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783. The public is welcome to attend.

FALL CLEAN-UP

Soo Township Residents may take their trash to GFL (formerly Smith Sanitation), 3239 W. M28, Brimley, Michigan on the following dates:

Monday, Oct 5th thru Friday, Oct 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm

Soo Township will pay for one 350-pound load per household. All loads must be covered. There will be no tires, yard waste, styrofoam or hazardous waste materials accepted. Appliances will be accepted (there is an additional charge of $15 for an appliance that contains freon that the resident will be responsible for). ATTENTION
SOO TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS

The Soo Township Planning Commission will hold a Public Meeting on Tuesday, September 1st 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3 ½ Mile Road, Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783 to gain public input on proposed changes to the Zoning Ordinance. Specifically, to the Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) Section 2.13 (and effected sub-sections) and the addition of Section XII: Cargo Containers and Portable Storage Containers.

2026 July Board of Review Meeting Notice

Soo Township Board of Review will meet on Tuesday July 21st, 2026 at 3:00pm. The meeting will take place at the Soo Township Hall 639 3 ½ Mile Rd, Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783.

The purpose of this meeting is for the Board of Review members to correct any mutual mistake of fact, clerical error & appropriate exemption appeals. NO PROTEST OF ASSESSMENTS MAY BE MADE AT THIS MEETING.
