The Soo Township Planning Commission will hold a Public Meeting on Tuesday, September 1st 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3 ½ Mile Road, Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783 to gain public input on proposed changes to the Zoning Ordinance. Specifically, to the Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) Section 2.13 (and effected sub-sections) and the addition of Section XII: Cargo Containers and Portable Storage Containers.

2026 July Board of Review Meeting Notice

Soo Township Board of Review will meet on Tuesday July 21st, 2026 at 3:00pm. The meeting will take place at the Soo Township Hall 639 3 ½ Mile Rd, Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783.

The purpose of this meeting is for the Board of Review members to correct any mutual mistake of fact, clerical error & appropriate exemption appeals. NO PROTEST OF ASSESSMENTS MAY BE MADE AT THIS MEETING.

Notice is hereby given that the Public Accuracy Test for the August 4, 2026 Primary Election has been scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3½ Mile Road.

The Public Accuracy Test of the Dominion Voting Imagecast System is conducted to demonstrate that the computer programs used to record and count the votes cast at the election meets the requirements of the State of Michigan.

CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE & SOO TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS

Notice is hereby given that the Public Accuracy Test for the Early Voting portion of the August 4, 2026 Primary Election has been scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 9:00 am at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3½ Mile Road, Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783.

Early voting for both City of Sault Ste Marie residents and Soo Township residents will be held at the Soo Township Hall from Saturday, 25 July through Sunday, Aug 02. Hours are 8am-4pm each day.

The Soo Township Annual Meeting and Budget hearing for the fiscal year 2026-2027 will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3 ½ Mile Road, Sault Ste. SOO TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS

On May 29, 2026 the Soo Township Board approved an Ordinance Amendment (2026-01) to affirm an enforcing agency and designate regulated flood hazard areas under the provisions of the State Construction Code Act, Act No. 230 of the Public Acts of 1972. New FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) have resulted in the need to amend Ordinance 2014-01.

SOO TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS


The Soo Township Board will hold a Special Board Meeting on Friday May 29, 2026 at 9:00 am to hear public comment and discuss an Ordinance Amendment that was made necessary by new FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM). The meeting will occur at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3 ½ Mile Rd., Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783

The ordinance amendment would affirm an enforcing agency and designate regulated flood hazard areas under the provisions of the State Construction Code Act, Act No. 230 of the Public Acts of 1972. The new ordinance amendment (2026-01) would amend Ordinance 2014-01.
