Canaldistrictssm Sault Ste. Marie's Historical District that includes The Canal, Algoma Conservatory, and The Machine Shop, The Rink and The Train Station.

The first canal on this site was built in 1798 to help water traffic bypass the rapids. All boats were destined for the North West Trading Company and then eventually to Clergue's paper Mill. This area is now one of Northern Ontario’s premier destination for Dining, Entertainment and Tourist attractions. The Canal District includes:

The Boiler Room and The Mill Steakhouse + Wine Bar will be closed for renovations.

The Blockhouse Pub will remain open from 8am - 9pm, and The Gelato Mill will remain open from 9am - 9pm.
