John Howard Society of Sault Ste. Marie & District "Effective, just and humane responses to crime and its causes." The John Howard Society of Sault Ste. We are a Non Profit, Charitable Agency

Marie has been providing service in our community since 1968. We are addressing the root causes of crime which include: unemployment, low education, abuse, addiction and poverty. We address these issues primarily by teaching skills to people to improve their communication, decision making and problem solving skills. Essential skills such as these are key to a healthy community.

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced board members, with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Addictions
Mental Health
Social Work
Police
Legal
Board Governance
Financial

Our board meets 10 times per year (15-30 hours). Workload at the board level is not usually onerous.
