Meet the maker behind COOLWOOD, Darren Poncelet.

As a passionate woodturner, Darren creates functional pieces that showcase the natural beauty of . His talents began in his parents' workshop, where he and his father restored chairs on an old lathe – an experience that sparked his love for woodcraft.

Guided by the material itself, Darren lets each piece of wood shape the outcome. The grain, colour, and character determine the final form, resulting in unique creations made without stains, epoxy, or embellishments. Using only locally sourced wood, he transforms what might otherwise be discarded into timeless everyday pieces like spalted wood vases, pens, grinders, ornaments, and rolling pins.
