Making the news! Aurora's Pizza and Spaghetti House (West Side) and Jayden are making a positive impression, together! October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and we are community-proud to see them both highlighted as a team.
Aurora's Westside
A summer job turned into a permanent position. And a local restaurant gained a valued team member.
In Sault Ste. Marie, Aurora's Pizza and Spaghetti House has built a longstanding commitment to disability inclusive hiring, working with Community Living Algoma to connect with local talent.
One of those connections was Jayden, a young person who has autism, who first joined the restaurant through a summer placement in 2022.
After returning in 2023, Jayden's reliability, attention to detail, and dedication made a lasting impression. By the fall, he had become a permanent member of the team.
With training and support from restaurant staff and Community Living Algoma, Jayden developed the skills to contribute to daily operations.
During Small Business Week and NDEAM month, we are highlighting how disability inclusive hiring and collaborations with Employment Service Providers can help small businesses build stronger teams.
