A local author of Schreiber, Ethan Spadoni will be a part of Fiction Fest.

Fiction Fest is an online book fair, focused completely on Canadian fiction. It combines a book showcase and author gallery with a roster of 36 live author readings and discussion panels that anyone with an Internet connection can attend — all for free! It’s free for the public to attend which involves traditionally published, hybrid, and independent authors all working together in a virtual setting.

The event runs from June 21st to July 4th, but registration is now open for our virtual sessions. The more people who know about Fiction Fest, the bigger the spotlight we can shine on Canadian literature and the more fun the event will be!

An Information Session for Youth Considering Running for Municipal Office

If you are a youth interested in running for municipal council in October 2026, we have a workshop for you! The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) is offering a series of workshops for young people thinking about running for municipal office in the October 2026 elections.

These sessions will provide insights and strategies to build your understanding and confidence around how to become a candidate and running a campaign.

Facilitated by three current municipal leaders, Natasha Salonen-Mayor of the Township of Wilmot, Cam Wales-Councillor, City of Brockville and Aidan Kallioinen-Councillor, Town of Espanola, you will gain firsthand insight into:

What to expect running as a candidate and as young person
Critical strategies for successfully campaigning for municipal office
Understand what it takes to become a candidate
Strategies for engagement including communication
And more!

Household Hazardous Waste Day is here, please follow the Township of Terrace Bay's traffic flow and parking map. ♻️

♻️ Household Hazardous Waste Day: Traffic Flow & Parking Information
TOMORROW May 29th 2026

To help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently during Household Hazardous Waste Day (tomorrow), we’ve prepared a parking and traffic flow map for residents attending the event at the Tourism Information Centre / Community Centre parking lot.

This area remains an active parking lot throughout the day and continues to accommodate Community Centre use, Tourism Information Centre visitors, commercial deliveries, and event traffic. Due to the high volume of activity expected, residents are encouraged to review the attached traffic flow map before arriving.

Please:
• Follow the designated traffic flow through the parking lot
• Pull up parallel to the acceptance tables
• Continue ALL the way to the end of the line, or as far ahead as possible behind another vehicle
• Staff will assist with unloading and sorting hazardous waste items

And of course, we know it’s always nice to catch up and chat with neighbours while you’re out and about, and we’re happy to see the community out enjoying the event. If your conversation is going to run a little longer after unloading, we kindly ask that you pull into a parking space so traffic can continue moving safely and efficiently for everyone.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation in helping make the event safe and successful.

The Township of Schreiber will be raising the Pride Flag Monday, June 1, 2026 at 9:30 am. All are invited to attend.
