Thanks to all the families, groups and kids who made terrific sand sculptures this year! So much creativity and team spirit! Here’s an update on the winners in the 3 categories:
Family- Eagle, Tugboat, Castle with moat;
Group- Crocodile and sea lion, Ring, Love the earth
Youth- Dolphins, Sponge bob, Volcano village
Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Lions who organized this great community event!

Thanks to all the people who came to Davis Bay, Sechelt BC to participate in this year’s event! There were about 32 groups who made amazing sand sculptures. Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Lions for organizing this fun event!
Everyone who worked hard to create amazing sculptures is a winner!
The first, second and third prizes in the Youth, 12 and under were: the dolphins; Sponge Bob, and the Volcano village.
Family Group- 1st- crocodile and sea lion, 2nd- claddagh ring, 3rd- Love the earth.
Group category- 1st- Eagle catching a salmon, 2nd- Tugboat, 3rd- post to follow.
Have posted most of the sand sculptures- great work everyone!

Today- come out to create or admire the beautiful sand sculpture. Its the 25th year- we think. $10 per group to register.

Registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 and then
Build from 9:30 to 12:30.
Awards- 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention

Criteria include: Originality, Difficulty, Use of space- all the area, and the Wow factor!

Come and listen to music by Jim Taylor and buy your lunch to support the Lions.

PLAN YOUR SAND SCULPTURE- JULY 14 IS LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY!

DAVIS BAY SANDCASTLE COMPETITION AT THE BEACH JUST SOUTH OF SECHELT is a fun annual event for all to enjoy!

You can register between 8:30 and 9:30 as a GROUP, FAMILY, OR YOUTH 12 AND UNDER. Just $10 per group.

Judges will be looking at the sculptures between 11:30 and 12:30 and winners will be announced at 12:45. Only materials found at a beach are allowed.

Each team has a 10 ft by 10 ft quadrant to build on . Criteria for judging the entries include: ORIGINALITY, DIFFICULTY, EX*****ON OF THE CONCEPT, USE OF SPACE AND THE WOW FACTOR.

The Sunshine Coast Lions Club are presenting the event and will be cooking up tasty burgers, hot dogs and fries for your lunch. Come and support this fun event!

About 66 people enjoyed? The Polar Bear Swim in Davis Bay BC on Jan 1. Congrats to all who braved the 4 C and the Sunshine Coast Lions Club who organized this event!
