Flagstaff County Council is proud to support this weekend’s 54th Annual Killam Rodeo.

At last week's meeting, Council approved a $3,000 Tourism Assistance Grant to help fund this perennially popular family event, organized this year by the Killam Ag Society in collaboration with the Sedgewick and District Agricultural Society.

Festivities get underway today, but please note that the parade and Blacktop Bonanza in Killam have been cancelled due to heavy rain forecast for tomorrow. Organizers have confirmed, however, that the rodeo will go ahead in Sedgewick rain or shine.

Despite the rainy forecast, we hope to see another successful Killam Rodeo weekend and strong community support for this long-standing regional tradition!

🧘‍♀️ Thank you to everyone who joined us for last night’s free Gentle Flow & Restore yoga class at the Forestburg Train Station.

It was a soothing evening of gentle movement, breath, stillness and restoration, all designed to help calm the nervous system and create space to slow down and reset.

As an added bonus, Flagstaff Fitness Challenge Ambassador Bridgette Ponto of Gauge Yoga closed the class with a soul-stirring 15-minute sound bath using sound bowls, which was such a peaceful way to end the evening.

A sincere thank you to Bridgette for generously donating this class as part of this year’s Flagstaff Fitness Challenge.

We are also very grateful to the Friends of the Battle River Rail for generously donating the beautiful community space at the Forestburg Train Station.

Thank you again to all 13 class participants who took time for themselves last night and joined Bridgette in Forestburg. What a wonderful reminder that fitness and wellness can look like many things, including rest, breath and restoration.

Please note: not all participants are pictured.

🌳 Celebrating the Flagstaff Region Class of 2026!

Flagstaff County was proud to host Plant-a-Tree Day last week with each of this year's three graduating classes across the Flagstaff Region:

🎓 Daysland School
🎓 Central High Sedgewick Public School
🎓 Forestburg School

Plant-a-Tree Day is a legacy project created to celebrate graduating students' achievements and honour their roots in our communities.

Each class had the opportunity to take part in a short ceremony, help plant a tree, and gather for a class photo beside a commemorative plaque. These trees will continue to grow in our communities, just as our graduates continue to grow into the next exciting chapters of their lives.

To the Class of 2026, may these trees remind you to stay rooted, keep growing, and always remember that Flagstaff County will be home.

We hope you come back to these spaces in the years ahead. Have a picnic, bring your family, share stories, and remember this moment in your journey.

Thank you to The Tree Corral for supplying the beautiful trees, Main Street Medley for creating the engraved plaques, and our municipal speakers for helping make each ceremony meaningful.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. We are proud of you and wish you all the best on your diploma exams and wherever life takes you next. 🌱
