77 RCSCC Daerwood Royal Canadian Sea Cadet unit located in Selkirk, MB offering training and cross-Canada opportunities Uniforms are provided at NO COST!

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Program teaches knowledge and skills about seamanship, sailing, and traditions of the Royal Canadian Navy to youth aged 12-19. The Program is funded jointly by the Department of National Defence and the Navy League of Canada.

77 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps DAERWOOD is the only cadet unit located in Selkirk, MB. The corps has been training and parading at Memorial H

all since May 4, 1950. 77 RCSCC Daerwood is proudly sponsored by the Selkirk Branch of the Navy League of Canada, which also sponsors the local Navy League Cadet Corps LORD SELKIRK for children aged 9-12. There is NO COST for registration! Training is provided at NO COST! Transportation outside of the local area is provided at NO COST! All officers and adult staff are screened and approved to work with youth. The program offers training and certifications in SAIL, POWERBOAT, MUSIC, LEADERSHIP, MARKSMANSHIP, ROPEWORK, and many more! Opportunities are also available for FREE summer training/employment across Canada as well as international exchanges.

We are deeply saddened by reports of a road traffic accident this morning in Sainte-Rose-de-Watford, Quebec, involving a bus carrying members of the Cadet Program.

Our immediate priority is ensuring that the cadets, staff members, and their families receive the support they need. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic accident.

It's been a busy few months for ! From Halloween to Remembrance Day to the holiday season, Selkirk's cadets have been active in the community and on the deck! Take a look at some shots from the last quarter of the year:

Congratulations to our Commanding Officer on earning and being presented his Canadian Forces' Decoration earlier this month!

Lt(N) Paul Human, CD joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2012 - and after twelve years of service with a good record of conduct is awarded this decoration. Along with getting to add the post-nominal letters "CD" to his name, Lt(N) Human is also among the first to receive the King Charles III version of the decoration since its unveiling last December.

Following Merit Review Boards and a detailed examination of their Cadet résumé, is proud to announce our newest Coxswain, Chief Petty Officer First Class Evashenko!

CPO1 Evashenko has been in the program since 2020 and, with the appointment to Cox'n and promotion to their current rank, is now the senior non-commissioned member aboard 77 RCSCC Daerwood. They are in charge of ensuring the drill, dress, and deportment of the unit are maintained to a high standard at all times.

had the chance to get out on the water in the last weekend of September! Cadets spent the weekend, along with Qu’Appelle Sea Cadets , learning the basics of sail at the Manitoba Cadet Nautical Site in Gimli.

Even though they may have gotten a little wet, all had fun and came out of the weekend with new skills under their belt!

Congratulations to former cadet (and then Coxswain of 45 Jervis Bay Sea Cadets), now Royal Canadian Navy Sailor 3rd Class Hannah Thiessen, on completing their enrolment into the Canadian Armed Forces! S3 Thiessen has just begun their Basic Military Qualification and will continue with the one-year Naval Experience Program to spend time gaining a breadth of experience across the Navy.

Your confidence and competent leadership will benefit you throughout your courses and career. Know that us here in small-town Manitoba continue to cheer you on wherever you go!
