They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Not sure where to get a poppy? Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60 - Sexsmith President Paul Gerow was out and about in Sexsmith on Friday making sure that our business community has poppy boxes available for your convenience.

We will be highlighting a few businesses & organizations each day to thank them for their support. You can stop in at Anderson Hardware LTD. or the Town of Sexsmith Office to pick one up. If you stop in at the Town Office, you can also purchase a permanent pin centre to help make sure your poppies stay on! 😉

Do you have your poppy yet? It's that time of year. Watch This Hour Has 22 Minutes on CBC Gem: https://gem.cbc.ca/media/this-hour-has-22-minutes/s29 22 Minutes on Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/ 22 Minutes on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/22Minutes 22 Minutes on Twitter: h...

It's that time of year for our annual Remembrance Day Contest! Local students are invited to submit artwork and writing in four (4) categories. All entries must have a completed entry form attached when submitted.

- Categories: Black and White Poster, Colour Poster, Poetry, Essay
- Age groups: Primary (K-Gr 3) - posters only; Junior (Gr 4-6), Intermediate (Gr 7-9), Senior (Gr 10-12)
- Entry deadline: Friday, November 21 at 3:30pm, please drop off submissions at the Sexsmith Shannon Municipal Library, Sexsmith Secondary School, St. Mary's Sexsmith, Robert W. Zahara Public School, and Teepee Creek School.

Students may submit an entry for each category but must use separate entry forms for each submission. Please staple the entry form to the back of the submission to ensure they stay attached (don't use paperclips). Artwork must be submitted on paper or bristol board.

Our local Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60 - Sexsmith awards prizes for first and second place in all categories. We would also like to display our winning entries at our Remembrance Day Service in Sexsmith on November 11. We will ask Poetry winners to read their submissions at our service, if possible.

Please check out www.remembrancecontests.ca for more information or reach out to Liz Good-Gerow, Legion Treasurer, at 780-568-2594. We've attached the national poster & poetry winners from last year for inspiration and the entry form and guidelines. Looking forward to seeing your submissions!
