Please note that the Municipality of the District of Shelburne Office at 414 Woodlawn Drive will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labour Day.

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

🚌 It's that time of year again! πŸ“šπŸŽ

The Municipality of the District of Shelburne would like to wish all students, teachers, school staff, and parents a fantastic first day of school tomorrow and all the best for a successful 2026–2027 school year!

As students head back to the classroom tomorrow, please remember that our roads and sidewalks will be much busier during the morning and afternoon hours.

⚠️ Please help keep everyone safe by:
🚌 Slowing down in school zones.
🚸 Watching carefully for children walking or cycling to school.
πŸ›‘ Stopping for school buses when their red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended. Do not proceed until the flashing lights have stopped and the stop arm has been retracted.
πŸš— Driving with extra care and patience during pick-up and drop-off times.

Let's all do our part to ensure every student arrives at school and back home safely.

Nova Scotia Seniors can apply for a $750 grant to help with healthcare and household costs.

The annual Seniors Care Grant program has helped tens of thousands of people across the province with the cost of home heating, yard work, meal preparation, grocery and prescription medication deliveries, phone service and more to help people stay in their homes longer.

People 65 or older, with a household income up to $45,100, are eligible for the grant. They can apply:
-- online at: https://www.novascotia.ca/apply-help-household-healthcare-and-home-heating-costs-seniors-care-grant
-- by mail: Seniors Care Grant, P.O. Box 160, STN Central, Halifax, N.S. B3J 2M4
-- with print applications available at Access Nova Scotia centres or by calling 1-800-670-4357 (toll-free).

The deadline for applications is December 1.

Seniors who are signed up for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency will receive funds through direct deposit. All other eligible applicants will receive their payment by cheque.
