This month, the Business Visitation Committee was back on the road, connecting with three local businesses and learning more about the passion, entrepreneurship and community spirit behind them.
Our first stop was La Fabbrica del Gusto, an authentic Italian restaurant bringing the flavours of Italy to Strathcona County. Owner and Chef Dharminder attended culinary school in Italy and spent more than 15 years working and training there before making the move to Canada and opening his own restaurant. His experience and passion for Italian cuisine are at the heart of the business and the food he creates.
Next, we made our way to Sherwood Flooring , where we met with members of the Trusted Trades board of directors. Trusted Trades is a network of vetted local trade professionals and business owners in Sherwood Park and Edmonton focused on building connections and helping one another grow. We also learned about the group’s commitment to giving back to the community through its support of Little Warriors in Strathcona County.
Our final stop was Fem Haven Boutique , a local boutique where owner and operator Alyson has created a welcoming and inclusive shopping experience for women of all shapes and sizes. A passionate community supporter, Alyson offers a variety of clothing options, including her own line, Shirley Moon. Designed and sewn right in her shop, the line allows her to create and customize pieces for her customers.
These visits are part of our Business Retention and Expansion program, which focuses on building relationships, understanding business needs and supporting the businesses that contribute to our local economy. From food and skilled trades to locally designed fashion, this month’s visits showcased the creativity, entrepreneurship and community connections found right here in Strathcona County.
