JW Farm Fresh Greens' Farm Stand opened on May 24!. Providing another great local option for purchasing microgreens, sourdough baking (bread, bagels, cinnamon buns, etc.), homemade soaps, seasonal vegetables, eggs, and freeze-dried products. After building a following at farmers' markets, JW Fram Fresh has expanded to a new on-farm location. Their page includes location details, dates, and hours of operation.

Farmstands are starting to pop up throughout the county, improving access to fresh, local, and seasonal products. The County is proud to support initiatives that contribute to a resilient, sustainable, and locally driven economy.

Tomorrow (May 16) is World Agritourism Day! This year’s theme is Women Farmers Leading Agritourism and Sustainable Rural Economies Globally, and we’re lucky to have so many tourism operators who are leaders in this space.

Agritourism in Strathcona County is defined as direct involvement between the tourism sector and the agricultural community, including u-pick farms, long-table culinary experiences, and more.

This weekend, celebrate World Agritourism Day by visiting a local farm, buying groceries from a local farmer, or signing up for an agricultural class or experience.

Find agritourism operators and more businesses on our business directory, or by following our Instagram, .

Last week, the Business Visitation Committee made two stops that highlight the range of experiences and opportunities here in Strathcona County. We started at 70 Acre Brew Co. a locally owned brewery and taproom where craft beer meets great food. With a rotating selection of beers on tap alongside Neapolitan-style pizzas, 70 Acre has become one of Strathcona County’s favourite local gathering places and will be celebrating five years this June.
We also visited Peak Athletic Sherwood Park’s newest high-performance hub for volleyball and pickleball. This purpose-built facility is creating new opportunities for athletes of all levels to train, compete, and build community through sport.
These visits are part of our Business Retention and Expansion program, focused on building relationships, understanding business needs, and celebrating the businesses that contribute to a strong local economy. If you’d like our team to visit your business and learn more about your story, we’d love to connect. https://www.strathcona.ca/council-county/administration/departments/economic-development-and-tourism/

Today is the last day of National Tourism Week, and we would like to thank all the entrepreneurs and businesses who chose Strathcona County as the ideal location for their tourism businesses and experiences.

In 2024, Albertans accounted for 71% of tourism spending in Edmonton and the surrounding area, showing that domestic tourism remains popular. Did you know that anyone more than 40 kilometres from their usual environment is considered a tourist by Statistics Canada's standards?

Strathcona County has released an annual publication designed to help residents and visitors find more things to do, more local restaurants to eat at, and more reasons to stay longer or come back on repeat visits. This year's Go Guide has been released to coincide with Tourism Week and is available on our website. If you're interested in receiving copies of the guide for your business, send us a message.
