After more than 34 years of dedicated service, Assistant Platoon Chief Mark Harrison is hanging up the uniform and beginning a well earned retirement.
Since joining Strathcona County Emergency Services on June 15, 1992, Mark has witnessed and helped shape some of the most significant changes in our department's history. From the early days of scrambling onto whatever apparatus was responding, to the evolution of dedicated staffing and the transition through the AHS era, Mark has been a steady presence and respected leader every step of the way.
Beyond the calls and the shifts, Mark's impact can be seen in the traditions and camaraderie he helped build. He played a key role in establishing the SCES Platoon Cup, with his company, No Burn, sponsoring the inaugural tournament and funding the Stanley Cup style trophy that continues to be awarded today. His commitment to teamwork, community, and supporting causes such as the Kids with Cancer Society has left a lasting legacy.
Mark also served as Union Vice President under Pierre Poirier before assuming the role of President, demonstrating his dedication to advocating for and supporting his fellow members.
Known for his leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to family, Mark has been fortunate to work alongside great people while doing a job he truly loved. As he often says, the years have flown by, and it is the people and friendships that he will miss most.
