Invasive mussels are not only ecologically devastating. They’re also costly.

Once established, invasive mussels can:
⚙️ Clog intake pipes, irrigation and water systems
⚙️ Disrupt boating, fishing and waterfront activities
⚙️ Create costly infrastructure issues, including cleaning, repairing and replacing equipment

💰 Projections show that managing invasive mussels in B.C. could cost more than $100 million per year.

Let’s keep this one off the community invoice. Clean, Drain, Dry to help stop the spread.

Daytime full closures of Highway 1 at the R.W. Bruhn Bridge are extended through Wednesday, June 17, 2026.🚧

The summer traffic schedule begins Thursday, June 18, 2026 (no daytime full closures planned).

This extension will allow the project team to complete rock scaling work near the west end of the bridge. Short-term pain for long-term gain and a safer Sicamous!

Thank you for continuing to drive carefully, plan ahead and show patience as this important work wraps up. Summer schedule is almost here!☀️

Clean, Drain, Dry 101!

Three steps. Every time. No exceptions. 🚤💧

Clean, Drain, Dry is the most important thing boaters, anglers, and paddlers can do to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.

✅ CLEAN all equipment, removing visible plant material, mud, and debris
✅ DRAIN all water from your boat, motor, livewells, and bilge before leaving any water body
✅ DRY everything thoroughly before launching in a new water body — some species can survive for days in residual moisture

Share this with every water user you know. It only takes one transport event to introduce a new invasive species to a lake.
