safeTALK
safeTALK is a half-day alertness workshop that prepares anyone over the age of 15, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a su***de-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of su***de don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive. safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources, such as caregivers trained in ASIST. Since its development in 2006, safeTALK has been used in over 20 countries around the world, and more than 200 selectable video vignettes have been produced to tailor the program’s audio-visual component for diverse audiences. safeTALK-trained helpers are an important part of su***de-safer communities, working alongside intervention resources to identify and avert su***de risks. safeTALK helps expand the reach of su***de intervention skills in communities around the world. ASIST- Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training
Virtually anyone age 16 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, can become an ASIST-trained caregiver. Developed in 1983 and regularly updated to reflect improvements in knowledge and practice, ASIST is the world’s leading su***de intervention workshop. During the two-day interactive session, participants learn to intervene and help prevent the immediate risk of su***de. Over 1,000,000 people have taken the workshop, and studies have proven that the ASIST method helps reduce suicidal feelings for those at risk. Workshop features:

ASK- Assessing for Su***de in Kids
This one-day workshop is meant for professional helpers working with or caring for children who want to learn more about protective and risk factors for su***de in youngsters from kindergarten to middle-school. Topics covered include a review of the research based evidence for su***de behavior in young children; a research-based definition of suicidality in children; a holistic perspective of the interaction between trait factors including genetics, personality, etc and environmental factors that can result in strengthening protective factors and helping to reduce risk factors for su***de; key questions helpers need to ask in order to understand these effects; research on a child's conceptual understanding of death and su***de and how this developmental factor may impact risk for su***de; personality traits commonly seen in children at risk of su***de; issues to consider when addressing su***de directly with a child; and how to support cooperative help-seeking with parents and caregivers for a child at risk. This workshop involves small and large group discussion and work with case studies. Participants receive a workbook, wallet card, and certificate of competion. NOTE: The ASK Workshop builds a knowledge base specific to child su***de that supports the skills learned in safeTALK and ASIST. Participants are encouraged to attend safeTALK or ASIST prior to attending The ASK.Workshop.
