Sending sincere thanks to Servus Credit Union for allowing Northern Haven to place our Purple Giving Tree at their branch again this December. Our Donation Station will stay up all month and this year we’re asking for the following items:
💜New PJs, socks and underwear for kids and ladies
💜New socks and sleepers for infants
💜New towels and washcloths for kids and babies
💜New Kids’ toys and books
💜School snacks and juice boxes
💜New lotion, shampoo and conditioner for kids and ladies

Across Canada, December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, which provides an opportunity to commemorate and honour the 14 women who were killed in an act of violent misogyny at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal on December 6, 1989. It also presents an opportunity to remember people who continue to die as a result of gender-based violence, as well as those who live with violence today.

Digital violence is a growing form of gender-based violence that uses online tools to silence, shame, and harm women and girls — especially those who speak out, lead, or challenge the status quo.

Whether it’s harassment in the comments, deepfakes designed to humiliate, or stalking through location tracking, digital violence is real violence. And it’s rising fast.
Weak regulation, anonymity, and under-enforced laws allow this abuse to flourish. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

This year, the 16 Days of Activism is calling for urgent action to end digital violence against women and girls. That means:

🔸 Stronger tech accountability
🔸 Legal protection for digital survivors
🔸 Funding for women’s shelters and community resources
🔸 And people like you raising your voice to help end the abuse
