📢 Monday Member Feature | Wet’suwet’en Native Arts Cedar Rose Workshop

The Smithers District Chamber of Commerce was honoured to attend the very first home-based Cedar Rose Workshop hosted by Chamber members Charrine and Todd Lace of Wet’suwet’en Native Arts.

One of the things we value most is taking the time to support our members whenever they invite us to celebrations, grand openings, workshops, and special events. These opportunities allow us to collaborate, connect, learn, and experience firsthand the incredible talent, entrepreneurship, and cultural contributions that enrich our region. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of creativity, connection, snacks and learning while crafting beautiful cedar roses under the guidance of Charrine and Todd. The workshop provided a welcoming space to gather, share stories, learn traditional skills, and appreciate the artistry and cultural significance behind each handcrafted piece.

Thank you to Charrine and Todd for opening your home business, sharing your knowledge, and creating such a meaningful experience. It is wonderful to see community members come together to support local arts, culture, and small business.

We encourage everyone to follow and support Wet’suwet’en Native Arts and watch for future workshops, events, and unique handcrafted creations. Congratulations on a successful first workshop, we look forward to seeing this service continue to grow!

🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of • ʀᴏᴄᴋʏ ʀɪᴅɢᴇ ʀᴇsᴏʀᴛ- ʙᴄ • !

The Smithers District Chamber of Commerce would like to extend our congratulations to Rocky Ridge Resort on reaching an incredible milestone - 10 years of welcoming visitors, local, creating memories, and contributing to our Northwest tourism economy.

For a decade, Rocky Ridge Resort - BC has showcased the very best of the Bulkley Valley, providing guests from across British Columbia, Canada, and around the world with a truly unique northern experience. From its stunning mountain views and peaceful cabins to its warm hospitality and commitment to quality, Rocky Ridge has become a destination that helps put Smithers on the map.

This weekend’s 10-Year Anniversary Celebration was a wonderful reflection of everything that makes Rocky Ridge special. The community came together for an afternoon filled with delicious food, a BBQ and potluck, lawn games, family activities, baby animals, prize draws, music, laughter, and great conversations. The anniversary tree planting was a particularly meaningful reminder of the roots they’ve established in our community and the growth still ahead.

Tourism businesses like Rocky Ridge Resort play a vital role in our regional economy, supporting local employment, attracting visitors, encouraging longer stays, and generating economic activity that benefits businesses throughout the Bulkley Valley.

Congratulations to Carol, her family, and the entire Rocky Ridge Resort team on this remarkable achievement. Thank you for your investment in our community, your commitment to exceptional hospitality, and your contribution to making Smithers a world-class destination. Here’s to the next chapter, more campfires, more visitors, more memories, and many more years of success ahead! 🏔️

💡 Financial Tip Friday

Being busy doesn't always mean you're profitable.

Many business owners focus on increasing sales, but profitability comes from understanding your pricing and costs.

Ask yourself:

✔️ Are your prices covering all of your expenses?
✔️ Have you adjusted your rates for inflation and rising costs?
✔️ Do you know which products or services are most profitable?
✔️ Are there clients or jobs that are costing you money?

Reviewing your pricing regularly helps ensure your hard work is actually growing your business—not just keeping you busy.

A profitable business is built on informed decisions, not guesswork.

Need help understanding your costs and profitability? Sky High Business Services Ltd. can help you turn your numbers into actionable insights.
