This full-length Teen Edition of Anaïs Mitchell’s haunting, jazz-inflected folk opera follows Orpheus’ mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice.

Call for submissions to the Bulkley Valley's latest zine!

Deadline for this issue is APRIL 15th!

The Marsh Dot CA is starting a small zine called SKULK. The intention being to showcase the incredible and diverse talent, art, and culture of the Skeena-Bulkley region.

Submissions are open for:
- art
- poetry
- short stories
- photography
- music
- something else

General guidelines are:
- must reside in the Skeena-Bulkley Valley
- the zine is small (8 pages) so space is limited
- absolutely no hate speech, bigotry, illegal material
- include a brief bio, relevant links, etc.

The Bulkley Valley Concert Association presents Moneka Arabic Jazz on Friday, March 20 at the Della Herman Theatre in Smithers.

Led by Juno nominated artist Ahmed Moneka, the band blends African rhythms, Arabic folk melodies, and contemporary funk, soul, and jazz. Drawing on his Afro Sufi heritage and global artistic career, Moneka creates music that celebrates love, connection, and cultural exchange.

Local electro synth and sax trio Deathanol will open the show.

Doors open at 6:30 PM and the performance begins at 7:00 PM.

Tickets are $32 for adults, $26 for seniors, and $16 for youth under 18. Available at Mountain Eagle Books in Smithers (cash only) or online at www.bvca.me

HUGE Thank you to all who came and performed at tonight's Arts Council Fundraiser (Choose Your Own Vintage). You all looked fabulous and kept the dance floor alive all night!

Thank you to Nikki Skuce (our retired board member and guest of honour), Facundo Gastiazoro Margot Kimmel, Jamie Bastedo, Margaret Runarsdottir, our trio of flautists, and The Blind Spots for wonderful and varied entertainment all night!

Our Board President Sharon MacGregor and newest board member Jennifer E. Beckerton served up tasty bevvies, our treasurer Christie Mayall womanned the door all night, And Heather Gallagher and Pat brought beautiful decor to make the night so gorgeous. I was honoured to be the MC!

We are so proud to be your Bulkley Valley Community Arts Council, thank you for helping a local student reach for their goals to pursue an education in the arts!

And here's the criteria:

To be considered, proposals must:

Involve the community in a meaningful way (participation, collaboration, co-creation, outreach).

Be free for all participants.

Offer transferable skills that people can use beyond the workshop or project (artistic, technical, cultural, or creative).

Be artistic in nature — any discipline is welcome.

Have defined start and end dates, ideally lasting no longer than one month.

Nice to have (but not required):

A presenting or public performance element at the end (e.g., showcase, exhibition, reading, screening, etc.).

How to Pitch Your Idea
Choose whichever method works best for you:
