The picturesque, historic Village of Telkwa sits on the traditional territory of the Gitdumden Clan of the Witsuwit’en people. The Village of Telkwa is located at the confluence of two world-class salmon-bearing rivers, namely the Bulkley River and Telkwa River. Highway 16 travels through the Village, with the Town of Smithers 15 km to the west and the City of Prince George 356 km to the east.

Grand Opening: Telkwa Multi-Sport Courts!

It’s time to celebrate! Join us for the Grand Opening of the Two Rivers Multi-Sport Courts in Telkwa.

This project is a wonderful addition to our community, creating a space for people of all ages to get active, connect and enjoy the outdoors.

A huge thank you to the Bulkley Valley and Telkwa Pickleball Club, Village of Telkwa staff, volunteers, community partners, and our funders Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, Prince Rupert Port Authority who helped bring this project to life.

Come celebrate with us, check out the new courts and help us officially open this exciting new community space!

The Two Rivers Multi-Sport Courts are almost ready, Telkwa!

What an incredible achievement made possible through the dedication of the Bulkley Valley Pickleball Club, Village of Telkwa staff, E & S Dykens Holdings Ltd., Tomko Sports, and the many volunteers who helped bring this vision to life.

A heartfelt thank you to our funding partners, the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako and the Prince Rupert Port Authority, for helping make this project a reality.

The courts will cure over the next 48 hours before they're ready for play, and we'll be celebrating with an official Grand Opening very soon. Stay tuned for the announcement—we can't wait to celebrate this exciting new community space with you!

ADVANCE ELECTOR REGISTRATION

Are you eligible to vote in the October 17, 2026 elections for the positions of one (1) Mayor and four (4) Councillors in the Village of Telkwa? Is your name on the current list of electors?

If you are not sure you can find out by calling or visiting the Village of Telkwa municipal office, 1415 Hankin Avenue, Telkwa, BC 250-846-5212, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays) or at Elections BC at 1-800-661-8683 (www.elections.bc.ca).

Advance non-resident elector registrations will be accepted at the Village of Telkwa municipal office until August 25, 2026. Elector registrations will not be accepted during the period August 26, 2026 to October 19, 2026, but will be accepted on voting days.

Nomination Packages are now available for the 2026 General Local Election.

Interested persons can obtain information on the requirements and procedures for making nominations, including nomination forms, at the Village of Telkwa municipal office, 1415 Hankin Avenue, Telkwa, BC, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday until 4:00 pm on September 11, 2026.

Planned BC Hydro Power Outage

BC Hydro will be completing a system upgrade requiring a temporary power interruption for all Telkwa residents.

Date: Wednesday, August 5, 2026
Time: 10:00 p.m. – Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 4:00 a.m. (estimated)

This is an overnight outage.

Residents are encouraged to prepare by turning off major appliances, unplugging sensitive electronics, and making arrangements if they rely on electric medical equipment or powered access systems.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

The Two Rivers Outdoor Courts will be closed to all players from August 1 through August 9 while a new surface coating is applied.

The courts will reopen once the coating has fully cured and is safe for use.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements to enhance the playing surface for everyone.
