Village of Telkwa

Village of Telkwa A Riverside Jewel. Bursting with charm and hospitality, Telkwa’s warmth embraces visitors.

The picturesque, historic Village of Telkwa sits on the traditional territory of the Gitdumden Clan of the Witsuwit’en people. The Village of Telkwa is located at the confluence of two world-class salmon-bearing rivers, namely the Bulkley River and Telkwa River. Highway 16 travels through the Village, with the Town of Smithers 15 km to the west and the City of Prince George 356 km to the east.

FIRESMART FRIDAY

Combustibles don’t always look like the obvious culprits. Plastic patio furniture and toys (or even paddleboards) stored next to the house also pose a risk during wildfire season.

Spend a few minutes moving combustibles at least 10 metres away from your home. It’s a small step that could make a big difference.

The RDBN Civic Address Sign Project is helping improve property identification across the region by providing highly visible civic address signs to rural properties.

Clear and visible address signs help emergency responders identify and locate the correct property, especially at night, during poor weather conditions, or in emergency situations. Civic addressing plays an important role in ensuring properties can be found when needed.

Residents participating in the project will receive a free, reflective civic address sign designed to improve visibility and make civic addresses easier to identify.

This project is made possible by the Next Generation 911 (NG911) funding program, which is administered by the Union of BC Municipalities and funded by the Province of BC.

Learn more about the project and order your sign at:

Telkwa Fire Rescue would like to thank our amazing partners in safety!

We have recently acquired a variety of fire safety resources for kids, including this fun colouring book, to help educate and engage youth in our community about fire safety.

A huge thank you to T&D Refrigeration, Tyhee Market, Steti Transport Ltd., Coalmine RV & Self Storage, and Inn at the Creamery for your generous support.

Your donations help us continue sharing important fire safety resources throughout our community! ❤️🔥
