✋ Heads up, SF!
Residents may notice construction fencing around the Welcome Centre side of the Town Hall complex as work gets underway to replace the Town Hall roof.

The project is expected to continue throughout September. During this time, there will be construction activity around the building.

Both Town Hall and the Welcome Centre will remain open for regular business throughout the project. Visitors are asked to use caution around the site and follow all posted signage and construction fencing.

We appreciate your patience while this important maintenance work is completed!

🍎✏️ Back to School Reminder
School is back in session this week for many children in Smiths Falls! Let’s work together to keep everyone safe:
🚸 Children – use crosswalk or crossing guard, obey traffic signals, and watch carefully for vehicles before crossing.
🚗 Drivers – you must stop for crossing guards and remain stopped until all children are safely across and the guard has left the roadway.
👏 A big thank you to our crossing guards for their dedication to keeping our kids safe every day!

❤️September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month❤️
Shawn Pankow, Mayor of Smiths Falls has officially proclaimed September 2026 as Big Brothers Big Sisters Month in the Town of Smiths Falls, recognizing the important role mentorship plays in helping local youth thrive.

This year, we're proud to highlight a familiar face in our community. Jaden, a member of the Smiths Falls Fire Department🚒💪, recently became a Big Brother, choosing to make a difference in the life of a young person through mentorship.
"I believe in the importance of positive role models. I wanted to find another meaningful way to give back to the community outside of my job as a firefighter and wanted to use my time and experience to be a positive influence in a young person's life. Sharing experiences, trying new activities, and helping my little build confidence and recognize their potential are benefits that come with the program and the reason why I became interested in joining", noted Jaden.

As a firefighter, Jaden is committed to serving our community every day, and his decision to become a Big Brother is another example of giving back in a meaningful way. Positive role models help build confidence, create connections, and inspire the next generation right here in our community.
Jaden - you rock!🤩👏

This September, we encourage residents to learn more about the impact of mentorship and consider how they, too, can make a difference in our community. Sometimes, a little time and encouragement can have a lifelong impact.
