๐ Firefighter of the Month โ February 2026 ๐
This month, weโre proud to recognize Shawn โChicoโ Laybolt as our Firefighter of the Month.
Chico has been a dedicated member of the Souris Fire Department since December 2005, bringing over 20 years of commitment, experience, and personality to the hall. In 2015, he was honoured as our Volunteer of the Year, a reflection of the hard work and dedication he consistently shows to the department and the community.
Chico is one of those members who instantly lifts the room. Heโs hilarious to have around, always full of energy, and brings a positive attitude to every call, training night, and event. Beyond the laughs, heโs a dependable and helpful firefighter who is always ready to step in wherever needed.
Heโs also always right in the middle of the activities that bring our department together โ whether itโs the annual curling bonspiel, our golf tournament, or other firefighter events, Chico is there, supporting, participating, and making sure everyone has a good time. His involvement both on and off the fireground helps strengthen the bond within our department.
