PUBLIC NOTICE

Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Rural Municipality of Spiritwood No. 496 intends to alter the Zoning Bylaw, referred to as Bylaw. No. 4/2015.

INTENT OF ZONING BYLAW ALTERATIONS
The changes are summarized below.
1. Section 11 Lakeshore Development District
Subsection 11.4 Subdivision and Site Regulations

Subsection 11.4 is amended by adding the following clause to the Minimum Front Yard

“Where a front building line in a Lakeshore Development District has been established by existing buildings in a block, and is less than 6.0 metres from the front yard (roadside), new construction may conform to the previously established building line, provided that the required front yard is not reduced to less than 3.0 metres from the roadside. Existing buildings where legally built are conforming with respect to the established building.”

2. Section 3 Administration and Interpretation
Clause 3.4.2 Development Not Requiring a Permit

Clause 3.4.2 is removed and replaced with the following:

“3.2 The er****on of any fence or retaining wall.

AFFECTED LANDS
All lands within the corporate limits of the Rural Municipality of Spiritwood No. 496 may hereby be affected by the revisions. Please check the full version of the updated documents available for viewing at the RM municipal office.

REASON FOR ZONING BYLAW ALTERATIONS
The reason for the Zoning Bylaw amendments is to clarify regulations throughout the Zoning Bylaw to improve interpretation and implementation.

PUBLIC INSPECTION
Any person may inspect the bylaw at the RM of Spiritwood No. 496 office between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays. Copies are available at a cost.

PUBLIC HEARING
Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 11:00 am in the RM office located at 218 Main Street in the Town of Spiritwood to hear any person or group that wants to comment on
the proposed bylaw amendment. Council will also consider written comments received by the undersigned by Thursday, September 3rd, 2026.

Administrative Office Assistant Employment Opportunity

The R.M. of Spiritwood No. 496 is accepting applications for a permanent, full-time (35 hours /week) Administrative Assistant position to support daily administrative, financial, legislative & customer service duties.

The municipality serves a rural agricultural and recreational region with a strong community base and offers an excellent opportunity for an Administrative Assistant seeking a rewarding career in municipal administration and exceptional quality of life in rural Saskatchewan.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Administrative Support: Answer phones, manage email, maintain filing systems, prepare correspondence, order supplies, and provide customer service to ratepayers
• Financial: Process daily transactions, receipting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank deposits, cash reconciliations, etc.;
• Taxation & Assessment: Assist with property assessment, tax collection and tax enforcement processes;
• Legislative & Compliance: Perform duties under The Municipalities Act, ensure bylaws and resolutions are current, track building permits, and assist with agreements and contracts;
• Communications & Public Information: Prepare letters, newsletters, notices, update websites and social media, respond to inquiries and complaints;
• Other Duties: Assist with grant applications, support partner organizations, manage rural cemeteries, learn new software and systems as required, and perform other duties as assigned by the CAO.

Qualifications
• Knowledge of daily & monthly accounting procedures (accounts payable, accounts receivable, receipting, bank deposits, cash balancing,);
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software (pdf documents, word documents and excel spreadsheets);
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and communication skills;
• High attention to detail and accuracy;
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be a team player;
• Ability to maintain confidentiality;

Education/Training
• Rural C Certification in Local Government Administration or completion of office administration program is preferred; or
• Previous municipal or administrative office experience with ability to attain local government certification;
The RM of Spiritwood offers a competitive salary with a comprehensive benefits package including a pension plan, extended health and dental benefits, short-term disability and long-term disability.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications. Security checks will be required upon offer of employment.
