More businesses are closing in Canada than opening.

Small businesses are often the canary in the coal mine. They feel the pressure first.

The latest economic data is confirming what business owners have been saying for months: Canada's economy is struggling.

The Liberals want to blame tariffs for everything. But Mexico and other G7 countries facing tariffs aren't in a recession. Canadians deserve honest answers about the policies that have made it harder to invest, grow, hire, and succeed here at home.

And IF tariffs are truly the main problem, Canadians have every right to ask: what happened to the deal we were promised? During the election, Mark Carney said he would secure a deal with the United States by July 1, 2025. That deadline came and went.

Canadians deserve better.

“Prime Minister Mark Carney and other Canadian prime ministers should be required to divest their investment portfolios when they assume office, not just put them in a blind trust, the House of Commons ethics committee recommends in a new report.”

Especially when the Prime Minister has ties to corporations like Brookfield, these measures are important. The Liberals in the committee disagree, saying it’s just targeting the Prime Minister… but of course we would want to ensure there is no corruption involved with the leader of the country.

Conservatives want it to apply to all political leaders in Canada.
