We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Roberta Thomas Legacy Award.

We invite dancers, choreographers, movement artists, and other dance practitioners at all stages of their careers to apply. Whether you are emerging, established, or continuing to develop your practice, we welcome your interest in this opportunity.

The Roberta Thomas Legacy Award supports the development of dance artists and dance practices in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Established in honour of Roberta Thomas, a pioneering force in Newfoundland and Labrador’s dance community, the award recognises the importance of investing in artists as they explore, create, research, collaborate, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of dance in our province.

The $1,500 award can support an artist led project, period of development, research, professional development, collaboration, or other activity that meaningfully advances your dance practice.

We welcome applications from dance artists at different stages of their careers. Your idea does not need to be fully developed. We want to hear what you’re curious about, what you’re working towards, and how this award could help you take a meaningful next step.

Eligibility: Applicants must currently live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador and be actively engaged in dance practice.

📅 Application deadline: Sunday, August 23, 2026
