EMERGENCY OUTAGE ADVISORY: ST. ANTHONY

Hydro advises that an emergency power interruption is required today (Aug 13) affecting some Town of St. Anthony customers.

It will occur from approximately 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (1 hour).

This outage will affect customers on Line 3 from Curtis Hospital to Fishing Point.

This is required in order to make emergency repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate customers' understanding as we work to maintain safe and reliable infrastructure.

Outage Update – Rocky Harbour & Norris Point (3:30 a.m.)

Crews completed the work required at the terminal station and power has been restored to all customers in Rocky Harbour and Norris Point. If you’re still experiencing an outage or power-related issue, please report it to 1-888-737-1296.

These photos show our crew in Rocky Harbour working to unload and install the mobile transformer unit, which was brought from St. John’s today. With the large size of the unit, the truck transporting the equipment has to travel at reduced speeds to ensure safe travels.

Outage Update - Rocky Harbour and Norris Point (9:50 p.m.)

The backup transformer arrived in Rocky Harbour around 9 p.m. but unfortunately experienced delays along the way. Crews are now working to unload and safely install the equipment. Once that work is complete later tonight, we will begin restoring power for customers. However, with this delay in the arrival of the transformer, we are now estimating power restoration at 3 a.m.

We recognize the impact this outage has had on customers and sincerely appreciate your understanding while crews work to resolve the issues at the terminal station.

Rocky Harbour & Norris Point Update (6PM) - The transformer is travelling to site and is currently on Route 430 to Rocky Harbour. We will provide another update as crews make progress this evening. Outage Update - 10:30 AM: Rocky Harbour and Norris Point

Crews worked through the night to make repairs on the transformer at our terminal station. New parts were installed, but unfortunately the issue was not fixed and we could not proceed with restoring power as planned.

As backup, a mobile transformer unit is on the way and expected to arrive by 6 p.m. Installation will take several hours, and the new estimated restoration time for customers is midnight tonight (12 a.m. Aug. 12).

We know this extended outage is difficult for customers and visitors in the area. We appreciate your patience as crews troubleshoot and work to safely restore power as soon as they can.

Outage Update (6:30 PM, August 10) - Power to remain off overnight in Rocky Harbour and Norris Point

We are advising customers in Rocky Harbour and Norris Point that unfortunately, power will remain off overnight tonight. At this time, we estimate that power will be restored by noon tomorrow (Tuesday, August 11).

This outage is due to damage to electrical equipment (transformer) caused by wildlife, at our terminal station in Rocky Harbour. Crews have been troubleshooting and working on repairs throughout the day, however, additional work will be needed throughout the night based on the extent of repairs identified.

We will provide an update in the morning as more details are available.

Outage Update (1:45 pm) - Rocky Harbour and Norris Point

Our crews have identified damage from wildlife on electrical equipment as the cause of today's outage in the area. At this time, we estimate that power will be off until approximately 8PM. We will provide updates for customers as the crew completes further testing and repairs needed on the equipment.

We know extended outages are hard for customers. Thank you for your patience today as we work to safely address the issues as soon as possible.
