Interesting to hear Federal Energy Minister Tim Hodgson in St. John’s today talking about the feds growing the Churchill Falls “pie”, but that it was not his job to divide the pie - that was up to Tony Wakeham.

Quebec clearly came out on top with a bigger slice in the deal put forth by PCs.

Also very unusual that not a single member of government showed up for the federal Minister’s speech and chat with Energy NL.

The PCs have built a record of broken promises after a year in government.

The PCs abandoned their referendum promise, didn’t secure the topsides work they promised, blamed the public for having unreasonable expectations when they didn’t deliver 24 hr snowclearing, didn’t lower the gas tax and didn’t provide relief on electricity bills.

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians deserve accountability for the commitments that have not been kept and a clear plan to address the affordability challenges facing families.

The PCs are tying much-needed cost-of-living relief to the signing of their Churchill Falls deal with Quebec.

Pushing the deadline for definitive agreements from December 31 to the spring means families could be waiting months for relief they need today.

With an extra $500 million in oil revenue available, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians shouldn’t have to wait for relief while the PCs pursue a deal that benefits Quebec more than our province.
