🇨🇦🇺🇦 Історичний день для українців Канади!
Палата громад ухвалила законопроєкт S-210 про Місяць української спадщини. Щойно він отримає королівську санкцію, вересень щороку офіційно стане Місяцем української спадщини по всій Канаді.
Саме у вересні 1891 року до Канади прибули перші українські поселенці. Тепер ця історія матиме своє місце в календарі всієї країни, зокрема й тут, у Ньюфаундленді та Лабрадорі.
Щиро дякуємо Стенлі Кутчеру, автору законопроєкту, депутату Івану Бейкеру та всім, хто роками працював заради цього дня.
🇨🇦🇺🇦 A Historic Day for Ukrainian Canadians!
The House of Commons has passed Bill S-210, the Ukrainian Heritage Month Act. Once it receives Royal Assent, September will officially become Ukrainian Heritage Month across Canada every year.
In September 1891, the first Ukrainian settlers arrived in Canada. Now, this history will have its place on the calendar across the country, including here in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Our sincere thanks to Stanley Kutcher the bill’s sponsor, MP Yvan Baker, and everyone who worked for years to make this day possible.

Today, I am incredibly proud and delighted to share that my legislation, Bill S-210, the Ukrainian Heritage Month Act, has successfully passed the House of Commons!
This is a historic milestone for Ukrainian Canadians and for our country.
The Bill will become law once it receives Royal Assent, officially recognizing September as Ukrainian Heritage Month across Canada!
All those who share Ukrainian heritage should take great pride in this recognition. It is an opportunity to celebrate our rich history, culture, and traditions, and to continue and expand our efforts to share our heritage with others, while simultaneously recognizing and celebrating the heritage of other communities that enrich Canada’s multicultural fabric.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked so hard to bring this legislation to a successful conclusion.
Particular thanks to Senators: Donna Dasko, Hassan Yussuff, Tonny Varone, Tonny Dean, Rebecca Patterson, and Omidvar Ratna for their longstanding support, and to MP Yvan Baker, who shepherded this Bill through the House of Commons.
