Yesterday, the hosted a special Gazebo Grand Opening to celebrate the completion of this beautiful outdoor space for patients, families, staff, and volunteers to enjoy!

This project was made possible through a meaningful partnership between the Auxiliary, the Foundation, and the Carter family. We are especially grateful to the Carter family for their generous donation toward the gazebo in memory of their parents, John and Marg. Their gift has helped create a welcoming space for reflection, connection, and comfort for all who visit. 💙🏥

Last night, the Foundation had the pleasure of taking four first-year medical students for dinner. With Dr. Berta and Dr. Trevail joining us, the evening was made even more meaningful as we shared conversation and connected over the future of healthcare. 🏥💙

Discovery Week is a program through the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University. As part of this mandatory one-week placement, first-year medical students are placed in rural communities across Southwestern Ontario to gain valuable exposure to community-based healthcare and rural medicine.

The goal of the program is less about intensive clinical training and more about helping students better understand community medicine and experience different healthcare practice models.

As a Foundation, we're proud to support opportunities that showcase the strength of rural healthcare and help build connections with the next generation of healthcare professionals. 🏥 Welcoming students to St. Marys allows us to highlight the many rewards, relationships and impact that come with practising rural medicine!
