Our second Lions Quest workshop in Edmonton last week brought us to another incredible school community, St. Benedict Elementary Catholic School— and this one came with a few unexpected participants... baby ducks!

Between the peeps and the laughter, we spent the afternoon exploring how social-emotional learning can come to life across the school day. Staff were especially excited about the opportunities to connect Lions Quest to service learning and cross-curricular applications, helping students build essential life skills while making meaningful connections to their learning and community.

One of the things we love most about working with educators is seeing the creative ways they take great ideas and make them their own. The conversations were full of possibilities for helping students learn, contribute, reflect, and grow.

And yes, the ducks may have stolen the spotlight a few times. 😊

Thank you to this amazing team for your enthusiasm, thoughtful discussions, and commitment to helping young people thrive. We can't wait to see where your Lions Quest journey takes you!

What an incredible day with nearly 30 staff from John A. McDougall Elementary School in Edmonton!

Not only is the school community inspiring, but the building itself is over 100 years old — full of character, history, and stories.

The team is already doing amazing work to support social-emotional well-being, and they’re excited to strengthen that foundation with Lions Quest Canada — bringing even more consistency, shared language, relationship-centred practices, and evidence-based lessons to their students and school community.

Stay tuned for some powerful testimonials coming soon. In the meantime, here’s a look at the incredible collaboration and energy in the room as teams worked hard preparing their presentations!

AI is reshaping how we connect—and that has real implications for social-emotional well-being. While tools like ChatGPT and TikTok can support learning, creativity, and even emotional expression, they can also reduce face-to-face interaction, blur boundaries, and amplify comparison or isolation.

The opportunity? To use AI intentionally—building awareness, empathy, and strong human connections alongside digital tools. Because no algorithm can replace the power of a real relationship.

Wow -what an incredible few days at the 2026 Mental Health in Schools Summit in Banff. What did we learn? Lions Quest is needed, and our content and approach was validated by every speaker we heard! We met so many educators and education leaders who were impressed with what we have to offer. Some who said "we used to have Lions Quest in our School District" - when we asked why don't you still have it we heard - "I don't know, but we need to check it out again." We had a full room for our breakout session, introduced the Leadership Panel (and talked about Lions Quest), hosted a display table, and participated in so many learning sessions. Huge thanks to Lucy Paladino & Sharmmila Rajkumar for joining me this year - I know they are still so energized! We learned, we shared, we have so many ideas and strategies to move forward. Huge thanks to Lions Districts C1, C2, A2, and A15 for their applications to Lions Clubs International Foundation for Lions Quest promotional grants. To say it was a success is an understatement. We will be sharing what we learned over the next few weeks - but for now, will share the biggest message of all - be kind and connect with others - that is our best strategy to improve well-being.
