🚧 Fairview Road Rehabilitation Project Begins This June 🚧

San Benito County is moving forward with improvements to Fairview Road to enhance roadway conditions and extend the life of this important transportation corridor for residents, agricultural operators, and visitors.

Major paving operations are scheduled to begin the week of June 8, with additional shoulder improvements, roadway delineation, and permanent striping to follow. Motorists should expect temporary traffic controls, lane restrictions, reduced speeds, and brief delays during construction.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed to help preserve critical transportation infrastructure throughout the county.

🚨 Attention San Benito County residents 🚨
Did you recently purchase a grapevine from a Costco store in Monterey, Santa Cruz, or Santa Clara County?

The San Benito County Department of Agriculture is asking residents to contact the Department for a free inspection as part of a statewide effort to prevent the spread of the invasive glassy-winged sharpshooter, a pest that can transmit Pierce’s disease and threaten California agriculture.

📞 Call (831) 801-9225 if you purchased a grapevine from an affected Costco location.

Please do not move or dispose of the plant until you receive guidance from agricultural officials.

🚫 Backyard burn season ends April 30

Beginning May 1 through November 30, backyard burning of yard trimmings is prohibited in San Benito, Monterey, and Santa Cruz counties.

These restrictions help reduce air pollution and fire risk during warmer months. Burning vegetation releases pollutants that can impact respiratory health and contribute to smog.
