As I sit at home this evening, I am reflecting on the last 4 years as a councillor in the town of Ste Anne. Tonight was our last council meeting for this term. It has been an honour to represent my fellow residents and to work with such a committed team.
I do hope that residents will entrust me with another term as their representative, but if they don’t, I can say that the work we did as a council has helped to shape the future of this town.
I especially want to thank Mayor Yvan St Vincent for his leadership and his trust in me to be the deputy mayor this last 2 years. I have enjoyed working with him and all of the discussions we have to keep the town moving in a responsible way forward.
I also want to thank Councillor Jeremy Wiens who us not seeking reelection, together we were first term councillors and therefore we relied on each other to support our learning of the system. Jeremy will be missed for his knowledge and drive to get things accomplished.
Councillor Lyle Davis has been a great support as he has been a councillor for multiple terms and has the historical knowledge of decisions made and has provided so much reasonable guidance for our town. I thank him for all that he brings to council.
I want to thank Councillor Cornie Klassen who has a huge heart for this town, it has been good to have him on our team.
Finally I thank our CAO Marc Darker for the guidance and patience he has for all of us. Without him and his team we would not be able to focus on the governance and decisions that we need to make.
After our final meeting, I was out on Centrale and managed to knock on 31 doors before it got dark. I love talking to residents and had quite a few long discussions with people tonight. I thank everyone of them for allowing me time with them.
There are 2 weeks until election day and I will be continuing to show up at doors ready to no answer questions and discuss your priorities. I am still planning to knock on every door, and hope to have many more conversations before Oct 28th.
