Planning Outdoor Work on Your Property?

As the summer season gets underway, the Town would like to remind all residents that a permit is required before starting most outdoor projects and property improvements.

Examples of work that may require a permit include:
✅ Decks and patios
✅ Fences
✅ Sheds and accessory buildings
✅ Excavation and grading
✅ Driveway installations or expansions
✅ Retaining walls
✅ Home additions and renovations
✅ Other exterior property improvements

Obtaining a permit helps ensure projects meet municipal regulations and protects property owners from potential issues or delays.

Before you start your project, contact the Town Office to determine if a permit is required.

Water Discoloration Notice

Residents may notice temporary water discoloration this evening.

The recent heavy rainfall, combined with Fire Department hydrant training exercises conducted earlier today, may have disturbed sediment in the water system, causing discoloration.

The water remains safe to use.

Notice to Residents:

The Town has received several concerns regarding excessive speeding on Marble Drive due to the ongoing highway construction and the detour on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH).

The safety of our residents is a priority, and we ask all motorists to obey the posted speed limits and drive with caution while travelling through our community.

The Town has contacted the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) regarding these concerns and has requested increased enforcement in the area.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation and encourage residents to report any ongoing traffic safety concerns to the Town Office.

⚠ PUBLIC NOTICE ⚠

Deer Lake Power advises residents of Deer Lake and nearby communities that beginning on Friday, May 15th, at approximately noon, spill gates at Main Dam will be opened for a controlled release of water from the reservoir.

The release is required to maintain a safe water elevation in the Grand Lake Reservoir.

The duration of the release is currently unknown.

What to Expect:
• Water will be released over Main Dam, through Junction Brook and into the Upper Humber River.
• Water levels will rise during the spilling period and may continue to fluctuate in the following days.
• Areas that are currently accessible by land may become submerged or cut off.

Safety Reminder:
Please use caution near shorelines and waterways. Be aware of potential hazards, including:
• Slippery or unstable banks
• Strong currents
• Floating debris

Please remain vigilant and monitor for changing conditions.
