Public Notice from the Fire Chief
Stephenville Fire Department

The Stephenville Fire Department is following up on a number of reported fires and fire damage to the base of trees, in wooded areas around town. Several of which are in close proximity to residential neighborhoods. All affected areas are being monitored and assessed by crews.

Residents are encouraged to stay aware while enjoying outdoor spaces. If you happen to notice smoke, flames, or signs of fire in wooded or higher-risk areas, please call 911 so it can be looked into promptly. Early reporting helps ensure that small incidents are addressed quickly to prevent larger wildfires.

Thank you for your continued cooperation in helping to care for our community and surrounding environment.

Don Gibbon, Fire Chief
Stephenville Fire Department

The Town will be conducting a routine fire hydrant flushing program starting June 8 and will be ongoing for the next few weeks.

Flushing will begin in the Base Area and will continue throughout the town. While flushing takes place in specific areas, residents and businesses across town may still experience temporary water discolouration and reduced water pressure. These effects are normal and should be brief.

If water discolouration occurs, we recommend running an outdoor tap such as the one used for a garden hose, until the water runs clear.

If you do not have an outdoor tap, run a cold water tap inside your home instead.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we carry out this important maintenance to ensure water quality and system reliability.

06/08/2026

The Town of Stephenville advises that there will be a water shut off in the following area:

St. Clare Avenue #48 - 74 and #49 - 79

The water shut off is in order to repair an emergency water break.

Residents may experience discoloured water once the water is restored.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
