After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision that our Annual Dinner & Dance will not be taking place this year.

Like many things, the cost of hosting an event has increased significantly. Unfortunately, in order to cover those rising costs, ticket prices would have had to increase to a level that we simply didn’t feel was fair or reasonable for our members, families, and community to attend.

Our Dinner & Dance has always been about bringing our firefighters, families, friends, and community together - and we want to keep it that way. Rather than putting the burden of increased costs on those who support us, we’ve decided to take a year off.

We truly appreciate everyone who has supported our Annual Dinner & Dance over the years.

Thanks for coming Truro Fire Service! We're happy to support our neighbors for calls and trainings!

Thank you to Stewiacke & District Volunteer Fire Department for allowing our new recruits to come to your training facility for the day! They had an excellent day of training which included hose management, searching, VEIS and firefighter rescues.

This past weekend some of our members honored the Highway of Heroes motorcycle ride as it passed underneath the Riverside Road overpass heading from Shearwater to Truro.

This ride remembers veterans and first responders and we were grateful to have the opportunity to support those riding.

Last night, we had the privilege of welcoming the members of Lantz Volunteer Fire Department to our station with their new Quint!

We have shared a strong mutual aid partnership with Lantz for many years. They provide invaluable support as our Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and are also an integral part of our Joint Swift Water Rescue Team alongside Brookfield Fire & Emergency Services.

Their new Quint is an outstanding addition to the resources available not only for our community but for the surrounding areas as well. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to see the truck in action, learn about its capabilities, and gain a better understanding of how it can support us should we ever require its assistance at an emergency incident.

Congratulations to Lantz on this fantastic addition to your fleet, and thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with our members. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership for many years to come!

🚒 DID YOU KNOW? 🚒

During the summer months, our department operates weekend duty crews to help ensure volunteers are available and ready to respond when an emergency call comes in.

Because we are a 100% volunteer fire department, our members give up their own personal time to be on duty for the weekend. Sometimes that means spending time at the station training, maintaining equipment, or sharing a meal together. Other times, it simply means staying close to home, ready to respond at a moment's notice if the pager goes off.

No matter where they are, the goal is the same: to have a dedicated group of volunteers available to provide a fast response to our community when help is needed.

The next time you see fire trucks around town on a summer weekend, or notice a little extra activity at the station, there's a good chance it's your volunteer firefighters giving up their weekend to train, stay ready, and serve their community.

Training doesn't stop just because it's summer!

If you see our fire trucks out and about around the Town of Stewiacke this evening, don't be alarmed - we'll be conducting training exercises to keep our members prepared for when the real call comes.

Thank you for your patience if you encounter us on the road. As always, if you see emergency lights, please slow down and give us plenty of space.

We're training today so we're ready tomorrow.
