This program offers services for seniors age 55+, and those with disabilities, to help them remain independent, safe and comfortable in their own homes and communities. Our services are available with the dedicated help of volunteers and fee-for-service workers and are provided to people who live in the Town of Stonewall, and the RM’s of Rosser, Woodlands

and Rockwood. The Services provided by the SISRC are:


•Driver/Escort Program
•Mobility Aid Lending Service
•Handy Helper
•Friendly Visiting and Telephone Buddy
•Meals on Wheels
•ERIK (emergency response information kit)
•Form Assistance and Resource Information
•Lifeline

The Manitoba Seniors Guide is also available in our office. We are located in the Lions Manor at 144 -622 Centre Avenue, entrance 4 in Stonewall and you can call us at 204-467-2719. The South Interlake Seniors Resource Council are always looking for volunteer drivers. If you are interested in this unique volunteer opportunity, please call Darcy or Corinna at the above phone number. Thank you to the many volunteers who give their time to drive our seniors to appointments and to those who pick up and deliver Meal on Wheels in the town of Stonewall.

🚨 DISASTER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE NOW AVAILABLE 🚨

Residents impacted by the recent storm and heavy rainfall may be eligible for the Province of Manitoba’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program. Support may be available for significant, uninsurable damage caused by the storm.

🏠 To qualify, your property must:
✔️ Be your primary residence
✔️ Have uninsurable damages
❌ Secondary residences/cottages are not eligible

📅 Deadline to request DFA assistance: September 9, 2026.

UPDATE: Disposal Bins Full
Please be advised that the disposal bins for flood-damaged materials at the VMSC parking lot and Interlake Salvage are NOW FULL AND NOT AVAILABLE.
New bins are expected to be available early next week (June 15 or 16). Locations and details will be shared as soon as they are ready.

⚠️ PUBLIC NOTICE | STORM UPDATE ⚠️

Following the recent storm event and overland flooding, Town crews continue to monitor conditions and respond as needed.

💧 Drinking water remains safe and the water treatment plant is operating normally.
🚰 Wastewater lift stations are operational but running near capacity. Residents are encouraged to limit unnecessary water use over the next 24–48 hours to help the system recover.
🌧️ Surface drainage is expected to improve over the next 24–48 hours, weather permitting.

Spring COVID Vaccination Program - available until June 30.

People who received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine since fall 2025 and who meet the following criteria may receive an additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine, provided it has been at least 3 months since their most recent dose:

* Adults 65 years of age and older
* Indigenous people 45 years of age and older, including First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples, regardless of place of residence
* Adult residents of long-term care homes and other congregate living settings for seniors
* Individuals 6 months of age and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised due to an underlying condition or treatment
