· Meet basic needs. A place to use a washroom and shower. Have a cup of coffee with access to clean water, and/or an indoor space o

ut of the cold or heat.

· Build social ties. Build trust with service providers and volunteers, leading to opportunities for more formal supports.

· Connect to social services. Volunteers and staff can help clients navigate entry into formal support with existing agencies.

· Build pathways out of poverty that provide dignity and choice, empowering clients.

😮‍💨Phew! 😁 Sara is excited and grateful to United Way Perth-Huron who funded the new AC unit at the Centre!

It was more difficult and expensive than usual because the Centre is in a basement space. Will you contribute to offset the cost of this project and the ongoing costs of the program? Donate here: https://give.unitedway.ca/donate/WSTRAT

The Stratford Connection Centre desperately needed an AC unit🥵

United Way has funded the unit and its installation to meet the needs of visitors and staff. Sara, one of the staffers, was very excited to feel the cool breeze!

Although the unit has already been installed, we're inviting community members to help offset the cost of the project. The Centre is a vital resource for people facing homelessness. To help sustain this program please make a donation here: https://give.unitedway.ca/donate/WSTRAT

When we have to close our doors, our partners happily open theirs wider! During our brief closure next week (August 17-19), we encourage our participants to access other community meals and supports that this generous city has to offer.

Outreach support - including access to water, safe use supplies and snacks - will also be offered every day that we are closed. Thank you!

The Ontario Disability Support Program provides monthly financial assistance to individuals with substantial and chronic disabilities or conditions. It also offers individuals valuable health benefits, such as dental and vision care.

The Stratford Connection Centre hosts an ODSP Caseworker bi-weekly, on Thursday afternoons. This clinic supports individuals interested in applying for ODSP, as well as current recipients with questions or concerns. The next ODSP clinic will take place Thursday August 13, and is open to all.

It's heating up fast out there! Bottled water and Gatorade can be lifesaving for people experiencing homelessness during heat waves, like the one we anticipate this week. While you're stocking up for your Canada Day celebrations, keep your vulnerable neighbours in mind!

We’re sometimes asked, "Why should I donate supplies to the Connection Centre?" It’s a fair question, and the answer is bigger than the supplies themselves.

The truth is, donations help us do much more than hand out essential items. They give people a reason to come through our doors, where they can connect with staff, access health and social services, build relationships, and continue working toward goals that matter to them.

Right now, donations to the Centre are at an all-time low, and we're seeing the impact. Fewer donations mean fewer people coming in, which can interrupt important, and sometimes time-sensitive, supports. It also affects the data we collect and share with funders and the province about the experiences of our fellow community members. When fewer people access our services, it can appear that the need is lower than it actually is, making it harder to advocate for the resources our community needs.

Giving supplies directly to someone in need can absolutely make a difference, especially in moments when we aren't able to reach them. When you donate to the Connection Centre, they become a gateway to so much more: connection, trust, ongoing support, housing, health care, and other life-changing services.

This summer, if you're considering donating supplies, we hope you'll think about the bigger picture. Your donation doesn't just provide an item—it helps create opportunities for connection, support, and lasting change.

Thank you for helping us meet people where they are and walking alongside them on their journey.
