๐Ÿ– Ontario Pork Congress & Hog Jog ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This week, we had a booth at the Ontario Pork Congress, the 53rd annual trade show and networking event for pork producers and agricultural professionals. This event is always a favourite among the MFRs who attended, and our wonderful Deb continues a special tradition by crocheting adorable piggies to display! ๐Ÿท

We also supported the HogJog, helping at water stations and providing first aid coverage throughout the event. The Hog Jog is an annual charity fun run/walk organized by the Ontario Pork Industry Council (OPIC).

This yearโ€™s fundraising supported The Emily Murphy Centre, and despite the rainy weather, more than $50,000 was raised for this incredible organization. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Thank you to the organizers from both OPC and Hog Jog for having us and for your kindness and support throughout the event โ€” especially for giving our team a lift to the water stations along the Hog Jog route and for the delicious meal. Your generosity helped us better support participants and made the day even more enjoyable.

๐Ÿšจ St. John Ambulance Ontario is ready for the switch to CSA Standards; are you?

Effective next week, June 22, 2026, Ontario will transition to the new CSA (Canadian Standards Association) Standard for First Aid Training. As a result, under this new legislation, the 1-day renewal course for Standard First Aid will no longer be offered. However, participants with a valid Standard First Aid certificate up for renewal will now be able to renew their certification to the Intermediate First Aid course beginning June 22, 2026.

This means:
โœ” Updated, standards-aligned course content
โœ” Certifications that are recognized across Canada
โœ” Continued focus on hands-on, practical skills
โœ” Flexible delivery options (including blended learning for Intermediate First Aid)
โœ” Experienced, highly qualified instructors

*Note: that this change to CSA standards only impacts first aid training. It does not impact the regulations around first aid products such as first aid kits, AEDs, and supplies. Since 2021, St. John Ambulance Ontario has been selling first aid kits designed to comply with CSA Z1220-17 standard.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Hike For Hospice ๐Ÿ’›

It was our pleasure to provide on-site first aid coverage at the Hike for Hospice with Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth held at The Stratford Perth Museum yesterday ๐Ÿš‘

Even with the rain falling, the warmth and spirit of the community shone through ๐ŸŒง๏ธโœจ It was incredible to see so many people come togetherโ€”walking, supporting, and showing up for one another.

We were honoured to have a lovely volunteer grace us with her presence while she cheered on all the walkers. Of course, she was proud to have her picture taken with us!

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, and helped make the day so special. Weโ€™re grateful to be part of such a caring and compassionate community.

What a fun event our Medical First Responders attended!

We were proud to provide first aid support at the Corporate Challenge this past Friday in Goderichโ€”an exciting afternoon where teams from local businesses put their teamwork, energy, and competitive spirit to the test in fun Survivor-style challenges.

Thank you to the organizers and all participating teams for making this such a fantastic event. Weโ€™re honoured to support community and corporate events that bring people together safely.
