Please be advised that Cross Roads Fire Department will be performing a controlled burn on the evening of Tuesday, October 20, 2026. This is a planned exercise at Cotton Park to a structure (gazebo) that is in disrepair and is an opportunity for our volunteer fire members to train. There will be increased fire company traffic in the area during this time.

The general public is asked to stay away from the site and allow our fire department to work safely. Thank you for your understanding.

Recently, Cross Roads Fire Department proudly welcomed Tower Ladder 3 to the fleet with a traditional push-in ceremony.

The event brought together firefighters, community members, government representatives, and industry partners who all played a role in making this important addition possible. Chief McCormick opened the ceremony by sharing the history and significance of the push-in tradition and expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project.

Cross Roads Fire Department extends its sincere appreciation to Hon. Jenn Redmond, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Artificial Intelligence, and Hon. Jill Burridge, Minister of Finance and Affordability, for their support and assistance in helping secure funding for Tower Ladder 3. We also thank Safetek Profire, Whelen Engineering, and everyone who contributed to making this important investment in community safety a reality.

Tower Ladder 3 represents a significant investment in firefighter safety, emergency response capabilities, and the protection of the residents we serve.

Be sure to stop by Cross Roads Fire Department this Saturday, August 1st from 12-2 pm to support Camp Gencheff Inc.!

Our volunteer firefighters will be washing vehicles while you enjoy a tasty treat with the campers! Car wash and BBQ by donation. What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon! 🌞

Following yesterday’s brush fire in Donagh, crews were called back today after the fire flared up again. Incidents like this require many long hours on scene, and we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the partners and families of all responders for their patience, understanding and support while crews were away from home protecting the community.

We would also like to thank N.D.M Photography for capturing this video of everyone hard at work throughout the operation yesterday.

This afternoon, the Cross Roads Fire Department responded to an out of control brush fire in Donagh. Due to the size and conditions of the fire, mutual aid was requested for additional personnel, fire apparatus and a water shuttle operation.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Vernon River Fire Department, East River Fire Department and Charlottetown Fire Department for their assistance and support on scene.

Thank you to Medacom Atlantic for their support throughout the incident. Their dispatchers play a vital role in coordinating emergency communications.

A special thank you to the Department of Forestry for responding to assist crews and ultimately taking over operations, as well as the Fire Marshal’s Office for their response and assistance throughout the incident.

Strong teamwork and cooperation between agencies is critical during incidents like this, and we appreciate everyone who helped bring this fire under control effectively, safely and in a timely manner.

Please note: The open burning of rubbish, leaves or other vegetation in the town is prohibited with very specific and limited exceptions as found in Bylaw #30, Part 3. Residents wishing to report illegal fires within the Town boundaries must call the RCMP non-emergency number at 902-367-9300.

Please also remember to check the Province of PEI's daily fire index (updated at 2pm) to ensure restrictions are not in place for personal backyard fires, and also make your own best decisions based on the wind, dryness, etc. before enjoying one.
