We welcomed one of Marigold’s newest Board members to HQ today! It was a pleasure meeting Laura Chitwood for a Board Orientation and tour of our facility. Orientations like these help new Board members become familiar with Marigold’s operations, culture and services, as well as their roles and responsibilities. We hope you enjoyed your visit!

We are back at it! Bighorn Library Manager, Jennifer Smith, invited our team to help with inventory earlier this week. Inventory management ensures the collection remains organized and accessible to Bighorn Library patrons. 📚 To support them in providing their patrons with an up-to-date collection, Kim, Christine, and Barb spent the day identifying missing or damaged books, accessing the condition of materials, and making sure the library catalogue is accurate and complete.

When the Banff Public Library invites you to help with their inventory process, it’s hard to pass up an opportunity to head to the mountains! Our team grabbed their barcode scanners and headed to Banff to help the library staff scan items, cross-reference materials and inspect the shelves for missing, misplaced or damaged items.

Conducting regular inventory checks ensures that materials are accurately accounted for and properly organized, while maintaining an efficient and up-to-date collection. This makes it easy for patrons to easily access the materials they want.

👋 Big shout out to Kelly Turpin for sending us these photos! 🙏

Last week's Lake Louise Low Down Community Resources Info Fair provided Improvement District 9 and Lake Louise residents an opportunity to learn more about all the Marigold resources available to them. Our Digital Experience Consultant, Savannah Sillito, spent the day speaking with 60 people about the millions of eBooks, movies, music, and digital content that residents can access with their Marigold library card.

Marigold supports its member libraries, by making sure they get the latest books, technology, resources, and materials into their patrons' hands and onto their screens. Despite not having a brick-and-mortar library, Lake Louise and ID 9 residents are still eligible for a Marigold library card.

The Village of Carbon Library’s Acting Manager Kate-Lynn Pennington sat down with Marigold’s Library Consultant Kim Visser this week, to go over what’s been happening at the library and within their community. She was excited to show off their building’s new look, which was made possible by a grant the library recently received for the installation of a mural.

Our consultants meet with Marigold member library managers at least twice a year to continue the flow of communication between Marigold and our member libraries. Regular communication throughout the year means our libraries stay informed about important information coming from Marigold, while we get looped-in about the successes and challenges of our Marigold community.

We LOVE StoryWalks, and so do our member libraries!!! Last round, we received more than double the amount of bookings that we normally do. Now that's incredible! With demand high, we are excited to send out a new batch this Friday. Marigold is offering four new StoryWalks from November 1 to February 28 on a four-week loan period. We will be promoting each StoryWalk through our Facebook stories this week, so keep your eyes peeled.

If you are a Marigold member library make sure to book them NOW! Just visit marigold.ab.ca

First time displaying a StoryWalk? It's easy. Tape it, staple it, tie it to a tree, zip tie, or add grommets.

📷 Over the years, you've shared pictures on social media of the StoryWalks installed in your community. We want to see them! Make sure to post them in the comments below👇

Check out what’s cooking in the Library of Things! Banff Public Library Director Sarah McCormack showed off their award-winning Library of Things collection, when Marigold CEO Lynne Price and COO Laura Taylor stopped by for a visit last week. Banff patrons can browse hundreds of “things” through the Library of Things directory - like kitchen appliances - which organizes items by categories of Home, Automotive, Cooking, and more…. Drop by Banff Public Library for inspiration!

Marigold Cataloguers (Library Technicians) are proud to support Library of Things collections at member libraries by creating database records that make it easy for patrons and library staff to find and circulate Library of Things items. Our Cataloguers strive to make the online library catalogue a snap to search!

Library service in remote communities puts items for reading, learning, and recreation in the hands of more people! Alexandra Parkinson, Improvement District 9 Councillor and Marigold Board representative (Lake Louise and area), showed us the Book Exchange in Lake Louise village, where residents can swap reading material, or connect to wifi hotspots in the village to download ebooks and more!

As members of Marigold, municipalities are bringing library service to residents, no matter where they live.
