Lynn Fair and Gary Fair paid a visit to the Wheatland EMS Station to thank a crew that assisted Gary earlier this year.
In appreciation for the care and dedication of the EMS crew, the Fairs presented a donation of $1000 to Wheatland and Adjacent Districts Emergency Medical Services Association (WADEMSA).
We are deeply grateful to Lynne and Gary for turning their gratitude into an act of generosity that will help support EMS and the vital work they do for our community.

It is a rewarding career! If you’re interested you should pursue it.

I have been a Paramedic for 7 years, in Saskatchewan and Alberta

What made you want to become a Paramedic?

Everybody needs a helping hand once in a while, and it is a privilege to be able to give a hand when someone needs it.

What is one thing you want the people to know about EMS?

Our job is so much more than the medicine. There are times when sometimes all you can do is be the person who listens, helps tidy the house quickly, or feeds the animals before we head to the hospital. As much as the medicine matters, treating everyone kindly is more important.

Gosh, darn near 5 years!

What is your favourite thing about being a Paramedic?

I love the amazing people we get to meet every day. Whether that be our patients and their families, other First Responders, Nurses and Doctors! There is rarely a time you’ll find me not trying to talk someone’s ear off.

What is something you want the people to know about Wheatland EMS?

Is how many of our Medics we have that live in the County. I was born and raised in Strathmore so working for Wheatland EMS was my only goal out of School. I know I am not the only one who has family or loved ones in the Town of Strathmore or Wheatland County, which is why having a local service is so important to a lot of us. I am forever grateful for the Community that gives us their trust and allows us to do our best to provide the best care we can day in and day out!

I have coached High School Rugby in Strathmore for the last 6 years! And when I am not working or Coaching, you can find me in the mountains rock climbing!

“I’ve always had a desire to help people, and give back! That’s never a bad thing, right??”

What is one thing you want the people to know about EMS?

“Everyone we bring into the hospitals is triaged the same way. Whether you walk in, or come in with EMS! Makes the system fair for everybody. “
