The Lawrence Commanda Health Centre hosted its annual Health Fair on Thursday, June 4 at the Garden Village Outdoor Rink. This event brought the community together for a day full of wellness, fun, and connection! With a fantastic turnout, attendees explored a wide range of local health programs, services, and resources available to the community.

A highlight of the day was the interactive bingo activity, where participants visited booths to collect stamps before redeeming their completed cards for a fresh bag of vegetables. There were also games, awesome giveaways, and fun swag for everyone to enjoy. A special Miigwech and shoutout to the NFN Emergency Services team and the Anishinabek Police Services for feeding the community with a BBQ lunch!

It was incredible to see so many community members engaged—learning and connecting with service providers in such a positive space.

Miigwech to everyone who helped make the 2026 Health Fair such a memorable success!

🦋🐞Have You Seen a Monarch Butterfly or a Lady Beetle Around NFN? 🦋🐞

Did you know that Monarch butterflies and some of our native lady beetles (like the Nine-spotted and Transverse Lady Beetles) are at risk? Some haven’t been spotted in decades.

You can help protect them just by taking a photo! 📷

Next time you see a monarch or any butterfly you can't identify, snap a picture, and send it in. You don’t need to be an expert. Just knowing the day, time, and location is incredibly valuable.

If you can, please include:
🔸Number observed
🔸Photos (the best way for us to identify them!)
🔸Your name & contact info (optional)

Every report helps us protect these species and the land we all share.

Send your sightings to:
