As wildfires continue to affect communities across the Okanagan, we know this is a difficult and uncertain time for many in our community.

Peachland Library will reopen on August 11, with regular scheduled hours.

If you’ve been unable to return materials or pick up your holds because of the fires, please contact your local library. If your ORL materials have been lost or damaged due to the wildfires, you won’t be charged.

Bald Range Wildfire: Evacuation Support & Resources

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) has released a helpful resource for residents affected by the Bald Range wildfire.

It includes information about evacuation support, Emergency Support Services, temporary access permits, comfort centres, animal assistance, road conditions, donations and other available resources.

Wildfires have affected many of our communities, and we know library visits may not be top of mind right now.

If you've been unable to return materials or pick up your holds because of the fires, please contact your local library.

🌡️ Need a break from the heat? We're here for you.

The Summerland Library is open as a community cooling centre, providing a safe, welcoming, air-conditioned space to escape the high temperatures.

Tuesday, July 21, Wednesday, July 22, and Thursday, July 23, the library will be open 10:00 AM–10:00 PM for anyone looking for relief from the heat.

Visitors are welcome to:
• Cool down in a comfortable indoor space
• Read, relax, or browse the collection
• Use public computers and free Wi-Fi
• Charge electronic devices

Whether you need a quiet place to work, catch up on reading, or simply take a break from the heat, everyone is welcome.

Please feel free to stop by, cool off, and stay as long as you need during our extended cooling centre hours.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care during the hot weather.
