Today we had a visit from 403 Squadron from Gagetown, in for fuel and a bite to eat at Anson’s restaurant.

The CH-146 Griffon Helicopter is Canada’s multi-role utility helicopter and is a regular visitor to the airport in Summerside. Video of their takeoff is in the comments.

They love the service, and also love to visit with our airport dogs. Whiskey the Sheepadoodle was on duty today.

Visiting aircrew are taking advantage of the new Hundred Dollar Hamburger at Anson’s restaurant. Come check it out Monday to Friday from 11am to 2pm!

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH!

After battling postponements due to wind and rain, Discover Aviation is ready to try again, and now have a few spaces available in the morning and afternoon sessions. Please read below for more information!

Discover Aviation (previously COPA for Kids) is returning to the Summerside Airport on Saturday, August 09, 2025 (rain date Sunday, August 10).

This unique opportunity allows youth aged 12-20 to learn the basics of flying, including a flight from Slemon Park. Participants choose a morning (arrive between 8:30-9:00) or afternoon (arrive between 12:30-1:00) session. Each session will take about 3 hours to complete.

Registration is limited and can be completed in person at the Summerside Airport located at 30 Aerospace Blvd or by sending us a message.

COPA’s Discover Aviation Program (previously known as COPA for Kids) has been developed to introduce children, young adults, and future pilots ages 12-20 to the world of aviation by providing the opportunity to take a discovery flight in a small airplane with the intention of encouraging interest in Canada’s growing flying community.

The chance for first-time participants to be a “pilot for a day” will be Saturday, September 14 (rain date Sunday, September 15) and will consist of a half-day session – the morning session beginning at 9am and the afternoon at 1pm. Pre-registration is required in-person and is available now from 8am – 4pm at the Summerside Airport.
