"The City of Summerside confirms that Mayor Dan Kutcher has submitted written notice to the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer that he is stepping down as Mayor, effective September 1, 2026.
On behalf of the city administration, I want to thank Mayor Kutcher for his service to the City of Summerside and wish him and his family well.
The Municipal Government Act provides a clear process for the city moving forward. Deputy Mayor Cory Snow will continue in his role as Deputy Mayor and will exercise the powers and carry out the duties of the Mayor.
The City will follow the required process under the MGA through to the November 2nd general municipal election and subsequently until the new Mayor and Council are sworn in, in December.
City operations and the work of Council will continue as usual through this transition"
